You get marginally better mpg with 98 (about 2mpg I recon) and in my 172 the 5000rpm kick seems a little more powerful, but it could just be in my mind...
No! :)
Comes on just before the red line for me when the car is warm. Sooner if the engine is cold I believe. I usually try to change gear before it comes on because it feels like I'm being nice to the car then ;)
Nice one :)
Similar thing happened to me. I was toying with the idea of chaning my Clio 1.2 for a 172 but wasn't sure I wanted to spend the money, so went for a test drive in one - wow! I just had to have one after that, and now I do :) Never looked back, worth every penny.
Yeah, will be the rear pads sticking to the discs. Mine does this sometimes too. My old Clio used to do it a lot. It's usually if it's been damp and the car has been parked up for a while.
I phoned up Directline the other day to tell them that mine was an import and they said it might make a difference but they want to know which country it was imported from - currently trying to find out - http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=65841
I don't think it has window etchings. Will check. What do they say?? Which windows? It is the registration no. on them all?
Surely the (Renault) dealer would have thought to phone Renault to find out if the car was an import... ?? Maybe not. If they still say it isn't an import when...
The plot thickens... The dealer doesn't think it was imported, but are going to check further and call me tomorrow.
However it definitely doesn't have an alarm - I understand this is the main difference between UK and imported cars - whats the chances of me having a UK 52 plate 172 not...
Doesn't say on any of the paperwork. I just have a letter saying the previous owner applied for the full 3 year warranty from Renault.
It came from a Renault dealer so I don't have any contact with the previous owner. Will call the dealer tomorrow - just being impatient really :)
Yeah that is quite wierd. By some strange twisted logic you could say that the 17yr old must be keen to learn to drive as they are starting asap whereas the 22yr old has waited (for whatever reason) and doesn't really want to drive but is now learning because they need to rather than want to...
Must be the old insurance pricing random number generator hard at work again. I'm sure thats how they do it sometimes!
Maybe it's like one or two mods they charge and extra £100 three or four mods an extra £200 and 5+ mods an extra £400... :)
My insurance company want to know where my car was imported from. I've haven't got a frikkin clue as it wasn't me who imported it!
How can I find out? Will Renault know?
I had a similar problem, wheels just been balanced but still getting vibration, so I took it back and they moved the weights around on the wheels - put half on the inside and half on the outside or something and this fixed the problem. Don't know why they didn't just do that in the first place...
Yup, I've had my 172 wipers do a similar thing. Intermittant stopped working and the SERV light came on. Turned the car off and back on again and everything worked just fine. Was about a month ago, never done it since.
Ok, so the leather on my steering wheel had started peeling just next to the thumb grip bits on both sides so I took it into Renault and they are going to replace it under warranty :D -I was all ready to argue my case, but no need, just a "yep, we'll replace it" - I'm impressed.
I'm quite...
Just gone back from Renault, and it sounds like mine is the suspension top mount thingy. They are going to fix it new week (under warranty) by filing some bits off the front suspension...
I read somewhere on here that noises when then wheel is on full lock at low speed can be the "suspension top mount" problem. Whatever that is!?
Mine sometimes does it when on full right lock. I need to take it to Renault and see if it is fixable under warranty, but since it doesn't always...
Hmm, thats what I thought really. Guess I should tell them. I didn't really realise when I bought the car that it was an import :o , so never thought to tell them when I got my insurance.
So if you have an import (I do) which doesn't have an alarm, do you need to specifically declare this to your insurance company? or will it be marked as an import on some document somewhere that the insurance company will have access to?
Personally I wouldnt got for the 9month accelerated bonus thingys. Means you have to stick with one insurance company and no doubt next "year" (read 9months!) they will jack up the renewal premium.
Its too complicated  Just live with having to wait a year until you get another...
I had a simliar problem with mine, going round a bumpy bend the back would jump around and slide about. Eventually got the rear shocks changed and that fixed it.
Has started doing it again recently, but I think maybe its just because its been wet and Ive been going a bit quick :o and I could...
As the engine revs increase, the alternator runs faster, causing it to generate a higher voltage, which is fed into the radio, causing it to get louder... :o
Nah, seriously, do something like press "src" on your radio for about 2 secs. It will beep and enter an advanced config screen...
