I used the ED downpipe with the V band fitting. Pe I found it makes connecting to the cat a little easier as you can leave the down pipe disconnect from the turbo to give you get more access to the stupid sprung loaded bolts. Just a case of wiggling it back up and connecting the V band once...

As we discussed, my feeling and many here echo the sentiments, is that it isn't worded well at all. Also many items not for road use are regularly fitted to vehicles that can and do pass MOTs, so yes your write up absolutely should say what the decat (sorry 'sports cat') is intended for. But...

As has been said a few times, it's a bit ambiguous. There are many things fitted 'not for road use' yet can and do pass MOTs. Their write up needs to be much better worded. A catalyst that doesn't catalyst is as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike 🤷

Fair comment. Correctly fitted with new Renault doughnut gasket and mated to a full stainless K-Tec recessed cat back exhaust system. Chris @ EFI remapped the car after I converted it to a turbo and the AFRs are bang on. The old OEM cat passed emisions at 0.03ppm (iirc) but failed on exhaust...

That's interesting. Suggests to me that the catalytic converter they're using is perhaps of lower quality than previously used?

It didn't fail in the fact it wasn't type approved, or was a sport cat 'not for road use' it failed because it's emissions were redonkulously high. Had emisions been within perimeters, it would have passed. Other 200 cell sports cats can, and do pass mot emisions standards.

Would've been handy if the ad had actually said it will fail MOT standard emissions but just got a load of attitude off them saying that 'not for road use' is explanation enough. It's their attitude that's gripping me most. That, and I now have a £330 paperweight 😒

Anyone else find K-Tec customer service lacking? Not overly happy with their sports cat (emissions are over 5 times legal limit) and whilst their ad does say 'not for road use' (it doesn't specify why) I'd assumed it may be down to increased noise as at no point does it say it'll fail...

So I had a response from K-Tec. Can't say I'm impressed,and would strongly advise anyone, to avoid this particular item from them as it's essentially an expensive decat for all intents and purposes 😒

I have emailed them to express my disappointment in what effectively seems to be a very expensive silenced decat more than anything.

Car was mapped by Chris at EFI after it's turbo conversion....AFRs are bob on. I'll see if I can pull some numbers off of it, but after spending a few hours swapping the cats out, I'm not too keen to get back under there too soon lol
