a synchro mesh kit is about £100 and it would be a good idea to replace the gear that is crunching on as well due to it has the friction surface on it that the synchro pushes against. individual gears are about £45. there is then the extra labour (after removing the box) that you will be charged...
if its the first lamda sensor or an early one with just one sensor anyway then the reading should constantly fluctuate between 250mv and 850 mv. make sure the engine is warm though and it has been running for a few minutes. if the reading doesnt fluctuate (stuck at one constant mv figure) then...
the sensor is part of the cable and is just before where it plugs into the instrument panel. the centre cable will have a target on it that the sensor on the outer casing picks up.
yes priced one up the other day and it was about £65. you should just be able to change it by unscrewing the plastic undergaurd. then undo the torx screws behind the foglight.
arent nankang made by a decent company like uniroyal(might not be them but it is a decent make i just cant remember) but just a slightly cheaper version, they even have the same tread pattern. my mate works for a mobile tyre firm and im sure he mentioned something like that anyway.
you say he has had a part reground. well surely that will be thinner now but the new seal wont be any bigger to compensate. the amount may be small but it might be enough to cause the oil leak. in the case where you think the seal may have caused slight wear on a cam etc you just refit the new...
a blowing exhaust wouldnt cause your problem. the only sensor they have been anywhere near would be the oxygen sensor although oxygen sensors when they fault dont normally seem to cause such noticable problems as yours.
if the vehicle has done a lot of mileage it would be an idea to fit the seal very slightly further in than the original so the seal doesnt run on the same place on the cam. if the crankcase is over pressurising then it would leak past weaker areas first like the dipstick or crankcase breather...
you may have knocked the gearbox in gear when you moving it around. if your a bit rough with the box when fitting it you can cause a selector to drop into gear. this will then prevent you from selecting gears as plunger mechanism prevents the selection of two gears at the sametime. if you remove...
im not going to early as ive had a few beers. im setting off from junction 29 m1 about 8.30am. if anybodys going from that way send me a pm and we can meet up. leave yopur phone number in the pm and ill give you a bezz in the morning. night chaps.
the cat 1 alarm that dealers fit is made by cobra (decent firm/make). all alarms go through the same thatchem tests so they all should be a good as each other (ones in the same catagory anyway)
yes see what you mean but the servo only has enough reserve for a couple of presses of the pedal and if the leak is bad enough to be heard from inside the car it would be doubtful if it would recover due to the loss created by the leak. hard to say though really without actually hearing it,isnt it.
well it sounds like the noise is created by the engine as in a air leak, espicially seeing as it isnt quite running right as well. can you get somebody to rev it whislt you have a listen under the bonnet?
all parts are interchangable but since your having a chip it would be pointless. not sure if you would get 30bhp as that was just an example but normally dcis get good gains from chips so you never know.
