Well i had my pbv set up on the rr and i think its worth it, so i wouldnt ditch it if its already been set up.
Like you say though mine also smells rich on the "cold" start up.
now when i start the car from cold, it sounds rough as fuk, when it initially starts it doesnt rev up a little as normal (for like 1 second), it just starts and doesnt go above 700-800rpm sounding terrible (rally sl*g style ), but after a bit of constant gas up to 3.5krpm (about 10 secs worth)...
its not just a bit of metal though, that would just conduct the heat, its multi-layered. Also i wouldnt bother with a second hand one unless its mint as it will only degrade and youll end up having to buy a new one a year down the line.
First port of call for me would be either the ISCV, (idle speed control valve), or the lambda sensor. Take the air filter off and give the ISCV a clean with some carb cleaner, see if that makes any difference.
Personally I wouldnt stick 0w40 in a 88k valver, I would use a 10w40 minimum but ideally the 10w50 is perfect for it, if like me, it gets a heavy right foot most days.
I would try and get hold of some 10w50 Silkolene Pro s, (see for sale section). You need about 5litres of it but its also wise to buy some more as the 16v does use oil.
not really that much when you apy 200 for a viper with just an air feed pipe. Dont forget your getting the adaptor silcon hoses and polished pipe work.
Mines to low at the min. runing standard tyres 185/55 15s, rear wheels hits the top of the arch:o, exhaust scrapes generally not very good on back roads. The rear will be lifted as soon as I can be muster up the effort to do it.
Its got gas bodge shox all round but not sure on the make or drop...
I would also buy a BMC but I cant see how it will fit in the engine bay allowing for a decent airfeed. I ve seen them facing backwards towards the exhaust manifold but thats not exactly ideal.
Depends on whats already in there. If its been serviced by renault then it will have green type d coolant, so pop down reanult and get yourself some. If its all brown as nasty then you might as well flush the system and buy the 5 litre bottle that renault sell ~ £20.
