Re: My mk1 track car blog
yeh not such a straight forward choice is it, do i write off the last year getting the clio done and buy the laguna
or see the clio through to the end, but not have something as special and one off as the laguna?
hmmm
Re: My mk1 track car blog
oh dear, the clio is in major threat of never being finished!!!!!!!
i've just seen another car i want to buy! and boy is it something special!!:cool::approve:
best bit is i can use the clio engine and box in it
it is the stalk that makes it stay on
the only thing i can suggest is unplug the connector on the stalk, find which pin does main beam and bypass the stalk, if your lights flash its the stalk, nothing else it can be, if they dont work its something else lol
right if you look under the car there is a plastic bush on the end of the gear lever, this is my short shifter but you can see it here in white (yours is prob red ish?)
check to see if that is in tact, if its goosed it might be that. if that looks ok, follow the linkage down towards the...
ah thats a start, so its not a gearbox issue if you can get fifth!
basically what must have happened is either one of the selectors under the car has moved/loosened itself or the bush on the end of the gearstick is worn.
sadly its a bit of trial and error in order to get all the gears if its...
i'm stumped aswell lol
so you dont even get the momentary flash when on dipped beam? (not the constant main beam where it clicks)
have you ckecked all 4 of the fuses (think there is 4 lol) for the dipped and main beam? worth a look into
because of the way it is wired if the nearside bulb...
depends where you take them ;)
the guy who did mine was a top fella, said he wanted to help a local lad out and charged me £50 for all 4 powdercoating white  and its a top job he's done, no shoddy workmanship. will be taking my roll cage and a few other bits to him for definate!
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
looking good :D
can't beat a mk1 project ;)
any clues as to what engine is going in?
and it looks like you had a lot of the same problems i had, rounded off brake unions, track rod ends (mine were too long though), suspension top mounts, all the joys of owning a mk1...
i was going to suggest getting a piece of bog roll or kitchen paper towel and placing it over the glue, then put the iron on top of the paper and it might melt the glue meaning the bog roll etc absorbs it up
however i'm not sure if super glue will melt enough for it to be absorbed? :S
proper track toy, love it :D
did you fit the guage take off plate before the thermostatic plate or after, cant quite see in the pics
although i have heard (from a very reputable source) that it doesnt matter either way as the thermo plate stops oil returning into the engine from the cooler...
yeh he is, hence the smiley ;)
deep down he knows whats best ;)
anyway the car is looking uber tidy! you'll have to ring or text and let me know if you've got the other problem sorted yet? mines gonna be on hold til after xmas i reckon, havent got the time or money to finish it before then :(
Re: My mk1 track car blog
well this is it, i removed all traces of abs from the car, yet the mot tester is saying that because the computer is saying that model/year should have abs he needs to see the light come on on ignition and then go off after 3 ish seconds, seems like a farce to me lol...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
right not updated for a while (partly because i lost my phone to pc usb cable!), and it looks like i havent been doing much, but i have!
all electrics are now done, by me! no auto electrician required  just need to sort a dodgy wiper motor connection then rig...
yes it is, i was only messing as i know moo has told beanie it needs to be used properly and not tucked up in a garage for the rest of its life ;)
however accidents do happen on track, and if you are pushing hard enough (to find the limits of grip) you will lose it eventually! someone who...
my brother works as a paintless dent remover, his boss has tried dry ice and said it didnt work at all?!?!
interested to see if someone has got it to work
