Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
me too but the bores looked ok in the pics...couldn't see signs of oil starvation on the bores..
just thought it might save 100 notes for him...if there in good nick..
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
place a ring in the bore once removed from a piston and measure the ring end gaps with feeler gauges..not sure on the gap....stan or danny might know
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
yeah sounds like you might have a main fault...can't remember the torque figures for the crank only to turn..will see if i can find some..
plus if the middle three show nothing have the five off..
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
does the bottom end turn over with out the head attached easily enough...do the cams turn easily enough with no belts on..etc..
does it only get stiff when assembled as one unit...
i'd buy the frs as its a better starting point for further mods...plus it has a warranty..
and its not about peak power but also the spread of torque..
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
hi mate...as its now out and ok i would be checking the clutch flywheel gearbox over in the case the problem with it not turning lies here somewhere...stuck in gear mis-alignment etc..just to be on the safe side really after all your effort..
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
whip the head off...if its turns then using the flywheel then most likely valve contact stopping it..if not either seized pistons or crank..then you have to remove the rods and pistons one at a time until you either find the culprit or remove them all and means the crank...
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
difficult mate really could be a seized bottom end or as you say piston/valve contact..
i would remove the head at least to start if it was mine..then you can inspect it and see..that way at least you will have a better idea
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
yeah just keyed in place and held on with the bottom pulley i think...iirc..not done a lot on F4R's..but its should stay in place anyway without the bolt..but you might need the head removing to check way it won't turn over by hand..
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
need to pull it out first...then you should drill the crank bolt and either stud extractor or weld a smaller bolt to it..and wind it out..
sorry to hear about this mate...gutted for you...
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
no...solenoid is clicking so sounds like its working...try earthing the starter body with a jump lead..if not remove it and bench test..
