Re the question of how a car can post a terminal speed in the 90s and yet take 2 or 3 seconds more to hit 100...pretty obvious really - the last bit of the quarter mile where the terminal speed is recorded is the hardest work for the engine. Youve got full traction, in probably 4th gear, foot...
Omar you need to go to the shows that Cliosport have a proper presence at - at French Car Show at Bruntingthorpe a few weekends ago we had 50 cars or so, and simultaneously we had a whole load more at Thruxton circuit where wed been invited by Renault. There are a lot of members out there...
Flashing signs are the way forward. Its very logical really. When I am approaching a village in the middle of nowhere, especially at night and suddenly a bloody great sign lights up I see it as a friend - its reminding me of the speed limit there and warning that there may be houses or a...
Desperately need some opinion from you on your cars following the photoshoot last week. Deadline was today and I need to edit and submit your stuff to UCB. Tried PM and email but to no avail. Help!
Either PM me or email but I need 50-100 words tonight, about your Clio: good points, bad...
Well if you dont know it was definitely you then you would be lying if you filled in your details as the driver. If they want to do you for speeding, let them bring their evidence to court. Which they wont have cos the b******s never do - I bet all theyve got is a picture of your car, not YOU...
No the standard RST wasnt that much of a fire breather. Just hard not to fettle them a little so that those that are still around nowadays are the modified ones. Hence why bog standard Series 1s are so sought after today.
Audi RS6 Avant, the new one. Or if I dont have the money, which is almost certain, then an S4 Avant, one of the old 2.7 turbos, although I should imagine the new S4 with the 4.2 V8 is a particularly creamy drive.
I just love the idea of an estate that will cane almost anything on the road but...
I urgently need a few opinions from V6 owners, both versions old and new, about their ownership experience:
Good points, bad points, why you would recommend it, what could do with improving, any other cars you considered when buying it etc?
Just a quick email to me...
I should imagine they probably are accurate. If they were all put in by the same driver Id worry but they are all different drivers on different days, in different conditions, and no doubt at different drag strips. For example, a turbo car will run slower on a hot day, whereas a NA car wont be...
LOL well to lighten the tone just a little...it is entirely possible that Ben WAS born as you suggest, and in fact his first bedtime story was a Haynes manual.
Sad to see you go Steve, and cool to catch up with you again lately after so long. Its a long shot but remember you can still be a member without a Clio - after all we are a Clio enthusiasts club, not an owners club, hence we have a fair number of ex Clio drivers who are still current members...
No. Mk1 only. Basically cars start getting seriously modded once they are old enough to be affordable to the kind of people who would want to mod them. That means only mk1 Clios at the moment.
Depends on the driver. Theres no fixed rate, it varies from company to company, it varies from driver to driver. For example, if I were to lower a car and put an induction kit and zorst on it Id probably pay hardly anything, if at all. Because Im 30, have a fair bit of no claims, garage my car...
Hmmmm...Im more inclined to believe that if a copper lets you off with something its because they dont have sufficient evidence to make a prosecution stick and like to make out like theyre doing you a favour. Ive never known any policeman to go easy on me unless they didnt have a decent case...
I always find it happens in cold dry weather, almost never in summer or in the wet. Usually dry winter days is when its worst. I flinch from closing the door, I must look like a right nancy boy prodding the door closed without using my hand!
Err well mines probably something around 240-250bhp, a bit of a remapping session and some bigger injectors and a 3 bar MAP sensor and Im aiming for 300bhp drag spec this summer. Mine probably has the most bhp/ton that I know of, but there are a few dark horses out there who run turbo Clios as...
Yeah Ive had a Mocal 16 row cooler coming off an oilstat sandwich plate for a couple of years now, best money I ever spent. It levels out at around 100 and very rarely goes above that, stays in the 90-100 range almost always. Plus it has a knock on effect of keeping your normal water temps down...
No way, dont get a 182 as a first car, thats mad. Work your way up otherwise youll find that you still have no NCB by the time youre 25!
My first car was a 1.0 Fiesta Popular. About a basic a car as you could get but none of my other mates had anything better, even those with rich parents, and...
Yes unpainted parts have a slight texture, paintable parts come bare, but they are made of slightly different stuff so that they will take primer. A 16v spoiler is meant to be grey plastic, a Willy spoiler is paintable.
Im pretty sure the Maxi did not have a standard inlet tract. In fact if Im right, I think it basically had a long cylindrical air box and a snorkel that led up to the scuttle panel so it was well out of the normal airflow from the bumper.
John, if you want that vent mate, you can have it for a...
LOL yeah too bad Mel, I managed to duck out of doing the Cliosport paperwork. Yes I remember the admin meets at the pub...a good time had by all. I never really figured out when Kathy and Wayne got together, but there you go, Cliosport must be a very friendly club!
And Yoz mate, I think you...
Alex I can see your point that you could get away with something made of sheet aluminium, but its just that I wouldnt trust it to do the job and for the sake of £30 or £40, why go to all the bother of making it and have it not really work as well, when you could just have a part designed from...
Yeah thats good advice about the helmets LOL they are seriously rank, you wouldnt wanna put your hand inside them, let alone your head! If you wanna go 1/4miling for the first time, best to go when a few of us are going along anyway, and youll see whats what when you get there. But basically its...
Cool to read about how people got into Cliosport, and great to see you all seem to like it. It brings back hazy memories...
Theres a few real old schoolers on here from what I can tell...there were a few of us on that old email list as I recall, and it turned out that a fair proportion seemed...
