    not really, as when they are out of the car they are inherently empty of oil... if someone asked for the weight of an engine, I would assume WITHOUT fluids..

    My diagnosis was correct :) For the record, "it comes with the territory" unfortunately. These things will always happen. I think this engine is std internally plus ITB's, and maybe a couple other goodies, so no wonder a rod bolt failed on an over-rev....

    The ampage required to create enough penetration on that thickness steel to give any extra shear strength, could possibly distort the final fixture? I wouldnt bother personally. Its been done without welding, and without problems.

    bolted diff into early gearbox??

    Its the retaining plates whih are different, as far as im aware the diff itself is the same. The plates can be retro-fitted by drilling/tapping the casing to accept them.

    I woulsnt be cutting seats back to increase piston:valve clearance---counter productive really. I would either: not bother skimming it by such an ammount as the gains are going to be negligable anyway; back the lift at tdc off; or relieve pockets on piston crowns to give the desired clearance...

    By removing any PAS altogether, then yes that will reduce weight and increase power. Who is Mark ? lol
