I know Tony, but as said above, it's for the enjoyment of doing it more than anything.
Thanks Stevie, you've been a big help.
I don't doubt that youd get more peak power from a turbo, but I don't know whether that would translate into speed.... The accessibility of the power from a supercharger...
Fair comment I suppose.
He didn't change his mind though, he said the 200 cup was the best overall but the trophy was better VFM.
I know that manufacturers exaggerate their figures etc but you can't account for each individual example having more/less power.
The other two are rpg's, for taking out speed cameras.
He's gonna get bare tickets with the speed he'll be able to carry with that rear bumper on. Especially if he gets a spoiler too innit.
Re: Is the ClioSport more efficient Fuel wise at higher revs?
There's something wrong with your car. You could drive it flat out and see that sort of mpg.
^^ this is very true. I hadn't thought about boost control.
I think the deciding factor between turbo and SC will be which proves to be the most reliable long term. As the 'charged cars are only really appearing now, I'd want wait a few months.
I didn't realise the power available from the...
I really quite fancy the s/c, something very appealing about it. I think I'll be waiting a few months to see how well they stay together first though. Don't want to be doing all that work for it to melt itself a month down the line....
If the forced induction route is the way to go though...
Fookin' love these.
But the only one I would spend my money on would be an ek9, but they're Soooooo expensive. A nice example was £8000- £9000 last time I looked.
I'm not looking at doing it for the fact that it needs more power as such, more for the enjoyment of doing the work. The power would just be an added bonus.
I'm not planning on selling the car, so my money being lost on resale etc isn't important to me.
Gouldy, that could be a good way to take...
This is just out of interest at the moment, but with an aim to start in the summer when I get another car to use daily.
What are the pro's / con's of each of the following. And also, which would people suggest gives the best power gains for time/cost.
- itb's
- jms manifold
- turbo / SC...
This is bloody marvellous this. Lol.
A very entertaining half hour of reading.
2live, I don't understand what your problem is with steve's review? Tbh it was very good. He hasn't commented on any car that he has not had a good drive in and I would completely agree about the 200. Epic car...
As said, I've bought one out of the for sale section. It's very nice quality. Worth £70 all day long.
In terms of it damaging your gearbox, it will if you try and force it into gear. The shortshift won't allow you to shift faster, just improves the 'feel' of the shift.
But if it was only the first one that was broken, then switching them would solve the problem? Unless by some horrible coincidence they were both broken....
I have the same problem, but my emissions light is on as well as very low mpg.
Would this have to be both lambda's?
I see that, but it's ridiculous that a car that's 3 insurance groups higher, can be the same price. The group should be based on performance, value and crash statistics combined.
In here mate
