Thanks all, exactly what I wanted to hear to argue my case. The thought of leaving a machine on the network without protection just to see what happens is not a viable tactic. My MD has finally listened!

If it wasn't involved in making the car go, stop, or turn around corners, I had it removed. Unsurprisingly I weighed EVERYTHING that was removed, logged it on a spreadsheet, and also weighed the differences between seat removed vs installed etc. I completely ruined that car. It went well...

On standard springs and dampers and with 117kgs of weight removed, yes it is.
