Yes, but not in the usual sense. It's fast but not ballistic, it handles well but it's not as good as a 1*2, it's the sense of occasion and the noise that makes it an event. It gets quite a lot of attention everywhere it goes.

Don't leave it that long, you will risk a more serious failure. I 'extended' the life of mine a bit by missing 3rd all together on most driving, you can go 1-2-4 without much of a problem on normal driving with the ratio's being so close. Got me the few months I needed till I ripped it all out...

I think parts wise when I did my own it was around £350, so that plus a days labour, and make sure wherever you go has the proper F4R locking tool set.

Go for a megane powered 197 (Meglio). It's got all the good bits on the 197, all the good bits of the Megane 225, no trade off other than you don't get the screaming NA top end. I converted mine and it's transformed the car, and I get 20% better MPG.
