Out of interest why are you adding skirting? It just limits space if you end up putting more cabinets in or push boxes to the side.

Shifter wise, I believe an oring can be placed between the two plastic top hats that house inside the ball (linked above) to add some more tension and tighten it up. I presume this is how the BMS ones are done as it can't be anything too complicated or...

Tbh, i wouldn't think twice about using copper slip on the lower bolt myself as the last time i fitted it, it was fuuucking tight. But putting anything on the threads will change the amount of torque it'll take. It's just science yo.
