Changing the injector transformed it. I plugged a friend's diagnostic reader into it and it was recording a misfire on cyl. three. When I replaced the injector on that cylinder, it made it a lot better. Idled much better and behaved much better when cold.
That being said, it has gotten a bit...
I know this is a bit of a long shot, but my friend is looking to get the rear of his Pug 206 track car lowered. Seeing as it's a torsion bar, I don't have a clue how to do it, and he'd rather leave it to someone who has done it before.
Does anyone know anyone in the east that could help...
Where have people used? I live near Gt Yarmouth but work in Thetford, so in those areas and in between would be fine.
Spoke to Cit-Ren this morning and was quoted £540 for belts + dephaser, or £600 with the water pump (which I'm tempted to have done as the car is on 122k).
Those prices don't...
It's a difficult thing to get right I think. I'm certainly no vehicle dynamics expert, but from my exposure, I was also cautioned against toe out at the rear in a rally car. As you say, it helps to loosen the rear end, which can help turn in. That's great on a circuit, as it's nice and smooth...
Nice to see someone rallying one of these. I've got an RS2000 rally car (MK5) and I genuinely think the Clio would run rings around it! Would love to convert mine for rallying when I've finished with it as a road car, but got a much bigger and better Escort coming. Hopefully that will cure the...
Nice to see someone rallying one of these. I've got a MK5 RS2000 rally car but I do wonder if the Clio might actually be better on a budget!
Be interested to know the spec of your car, drop me a PM if you get a second :)
Interesting stuff!
Assume use of Laguna hubs got a bigger wheel bearing? Wonder what impact it has on geometry.
Do you have a copy of the build manual you could send me?
Thanks Ian.
I bought it in around October last year from the chap in Ipswich. Funny that you lived in Thetford - I work there at the moment!
I'll reply to your pm when I'm on my laptop too.
Yeah absolutely. Times and tastes change but I have some really good memories of that period so I look back on it with a lot of fondness.
Anyway, here we are, on with the pictures. These are coming up on a couple of years old but it's not really changed. It doesn't get used much now as the...
Apologies, I'm sure this will have come up before. I did some searching, but didn't turn much up. I'm interested in what was done to create the Clio Cup race cars? In 1*2 guise I mean.
Obviously there was the Sadev box, but interested in the rest of the car. I assume the shell was an unsealed...
Without wanting to sh*t on anyone's parade, virtually every car in this thread is from the early to mid-2000s, not from the 90s...
I know this, because I remember loads of them lol. It was a very different time and, although they look pretty tasteless now, the money and effort that went into...
Minor update to this...
I've just been looking on ECP at track rods and they list two different part numbers.
This one, which they inform me is for the TRW rack...
It can be a lot cheaper than you think now, especially for relatively small bits and pieces. I want some door cards for my Escort but they can get a bit pricey it seems.
As I say, bottom ball joints were changed as it had complete new arms.
It definitely feels like it is in the steering. You can feel and hear the knock if you hold onto the wheel and wobble it from side to side, and it is decidedly metallic.
Are the track rods difficult to replace?
My Escort F2 car has a piece of alloy sheet that is bent to form a little step up an then forms a perfectly level floor, with grip tape applied to it.
It's worth noting that once you take the carpets etc out, the floor might actually end up feeling a bit low. I noticed that in my rally car when...
It's a definite clunk/knock. You can feel play in the steering when you wobble the wheels, though it doesn't appear to be causing issues with tyre wear.
You can also feel it when accelerating hard on even a slightly bumpy surface. A friend with a 172 also noticed it - his doesn't do it.
I...
As above really?
My '53 172 Cup has a little bit of play in the front end. You can't feel it on smooth roads particularly, but on bumpy roads you get a lot of fight through the steering under acceleration. If you wobble each of the wheels by hand, you can feel/hear a little clunking in the...
I'm getting some rather strange behaviour in my throttle pedal. I overtook a car off a roundabout last night and when I put my foot down, the pedal appeared to get to maximum travel, and then kind of "click" a bit further. It's not a distinct click as such, but you can push the pedal down and...
Ha thanks, the username has been with me for several years now so can't really get rid of it!
Yes very possibly, but hopefully I'll be in the Escort by then :)
