i did mine with hammerite metal paint, in black, then clear coated over the top...
i just made sure they were properly sanded down, then went straight on with the hammerite, lots of thin coats to build it up....then a day to dry and then clearcoat on top........i got the matt/satin finish i...

spring compressor yeah, its because the front springs are under tension inside the shock, so if you just take it off the spring is under load itl fly off at some serious speed....compressors hold it in its current size so it can be safely taken off
