I'm entirely unsure how this passed me by, could have been the silly name ;) Looks bloody awesome and for the price you really cannot complain! Jesus! Look forward to seeing what you do with it mate.

new engine (plus car build thread)

We're still going for a dartford tunnel run, right? This looks amazing, but (and I don't give a crap about "scenes") I think it needs a wing, big time!

A clean and some new bits

Looks brilliant. I'm still yet to see your car or meet you, we'll have to have a meet over your way soon.

    Fitting the battery

Sorry??? If you're talking about the car battery, it sits in about the only place possible, and then there's a bolt in retainer.

    2.0 conversion

TECHNICALLY, and I really do mean TECHNICALLY, it could be done and no one would ever be the wiser.

    2.0 conversion

Buy a 172 in the same colour, grind the chassis numbers off, put your interior in it, (I assume this is about all you care about), change over the stickers on the inside of the door, wack your number plate on and call it a "conversion" Cheaper insurance, cheaper tax, winner winner, chicken...

    Ph1 - Now with Recaro's.

I haven't actually mate, but I'm sure you said they were £10 a corner, and I want five fitted... I need to try some little cheapo place I think. I'll let you know how I get on, I won't be doing it this month because I'm supposed to be going away.

    Ph1 - Now with Recaro's.

Cheers all :) Steve, if you know anyone who can fit tyres on the cheap, it'll get "decent" alloys! I'm just not willing to pay £60 just to FIT tyres!

a annoying rattle coming from underneath the 182

I started getting this on Saturday :( Heatshield by the manifold seems very loose when reaching down there, how many bolts should be in it?

How to remove Steering Casing & Control Stalk?!

You've got to take the cowel off, it's the cowel that's screwed on, not steering control.

    side strip costs?

Scrappies, 9£ is cheap. Really cheap. Renault are way over £25 per side

    side strip costs?

FYI, already painted ones will be easier to prep/paint.

FAO All Ph1 172 Owners -Throttle

Renault yes. And no guys, they're not that bad to fit. There's a couple of awkward clips behind the heatproofing at the back of the bay, but you can get pretty good access to where it enters the car through the drivers arch.

I found that where the rubber sheath meets the plastic on the throttle body end, the sheath is able to move away, exposing the metal cable housing. To stop any dirt/grit getting in there, I use insulating tape to keep them together.

FAO All Ph1 172 Owners -Throttle

Just a little note here for the ph1 172 owners on here... Ever since owning my car, it's had quite a stiff throttle pedal, I assumed this was just due to it being cable and not electric like the ph2... this weekend my cable frayed, and with this the pedal got VERY notchy, so it had to be...

    My Caterham.

Proper enthusiast. I honestly thought I'd misread when I saw you were using it as a daily. LOL! Good work, and it looks great.

    Everyone's selling their 200's?

That'll be a nice time to be a buyer :D

    Nickson's Titanium PH1 172

Good work! Nutter when it's not necessary though. Yes, ph1's only have 1 foglight, you can run a wire to make both, but what's the point.

    What are these wheels?

We had a thread just like this a few months ago, a conclusion was reached. Searching "like OZ f1's" or something might get you it.

    Nickson's Titanium PH1 172

Good work mate, nice job on the lights wiring. It's always nice to do little jobs like that properly. Nice little selection of bits to tidy things up there too. :) BTW what I forgot to say in that PM, is how amazing my car is with this new clutch, the biggest differences being how easy it is...

Breather that sits on top of the gearbox...

I think it came out with the breather, then came off the breather. Nevermind, a rubber band does the job just fine. :o

Breather that sits on top of the gearbox...

    That's what I thought... :( Seems I lost that little b*****d.

    Jon's Trackday PH1 172 project thread

Looks awesome on those red wheels, if mine weren't so mint and silver, I'd be considering red! Love the "work" with the dash too.
