35-38mpg with piper exhaust, V6 airbox & remap, 27mpg is very low unless you're driving everywhere at 5k rpm and above.

He owns a 182, the water pump runs off the aux belt on those, and they're known for going wrong every now and again.

Water pump runs off the Aux belt, sounds like it's buggered and took the aux belt with it, be thankful it didn't take the cam belt with it on the way out.

A JC5-130 isn't that expensive, £100-£200 depending on mileage, it's the labor that cost you, unless you're handy with the spanners.

Not really, I bought my current one from a random Renault breakers, they told me they were driving around in the car it came from for a month before they stripped it. I just had to take them at their word, luckily 2 years later it's still going strong, it is a lottery though.
