As you said, calipers not needed.
Brembo HC discs, and either Ferodo DS2500, Pagid Blue, Carbon Lorrain I've had experience of...DS2500 do give up when really hot. The other two pretty much keep going regardless.
Make sure you change/fluch/improve the fluid too or all your work will be...
I can't quite put my finger on why I feel this, and I don't like saying it either, but there's always been something that's struck me as inherently right in the look of these Astras.
Very nice.
You are totally incorrect there.
Heel and toe gear changes are primarily about maintaining stable balance in a car and that applies regardless of pace or road conditions.
The fact that is saves wear and tear on the clutch is secondary.
It's illegal to use those pads on the road - they're designed for track/race use only.
Something to do with the coefficient of friction varying so much with temperature I think.
Try braking less ;)
Imagine a grinding wheel on steel. This is the same. It's because the pads are ultra aggressive and they're grinding layers off the disc.
As above, very harsh for your paintwork though - not that I'm all that bothered...mine's not been cleaned for 2 months now LOL
When I was out doing that I...
You say that and I agree up to a point...
Sure modern gearboxes have a synchromesh - but you can still 'assist' the gearbox by double-declutching - without doubt, if I double-declutch, the next gear selection is smoother and easier than if I just heel/toe blip alone.
It's a useful technique...
I like, I like :approve:
Once they get hot what comes off the disc is impressive and totally appropriate at this time of year...
Warm...
Warmer...
Bingo!
Really bad short video clip of them in action here...CLICK
I've got a 7,750 limit - couldn't care about what it does for power, as said above it's all about the track.
On track I change gear normally at the usual revs and I don't rev high as a matter of course. But on track it can be a huge advantage.

My surname's Briggs, so I've always wanted... MBR166S.
It's on some random Hyundai Coupe at the moment.
Also got outbid on C110 CUP when it was up for auction.
Maybe one day...
Me neither. My Cup has this clicky bit at the end of its travel, it's always been there from new.
Someone on here almost got rear ended by an HGV from not reading their manual about this...
They'd set the limiter to 30 mph for residential streets. Get to junction with 60 mph limit, pull out...
