Thanks for that link, looks well handy. There is a local fabricator I can probably source the tubing from, will just need to look at assembling the turret parts and the plating/spacers for the rear beam mounts.
I am now looking into doing this and looking at the base way to do this without being able to weld/fabricate myself.
@scotiamr2t do you have a project thread? would be interesting to see what you did.
I am afraid I can't remember where I saw the link or what the subject matter was. sorry.
I think I am going to be taking inspiration from the cage first, I have been advised to triangulate to the rear turrets and rear axle mounts.... I think as you say the fabrication stage is going to take a...
It really feels like I am on the verge of really getting back into moving forward with the build as the cage has now turned up and I can start looking forward to the fabrication stage. Over the past few days I have been reading @Tomotek's build thread, not only does that make my thread feel less...
I have been on CS a fair while but time I have to visit the site has massively changed. I saw a link to this thread from facebook and have spent the past several days reading it in stages.
I think someone else has summed up how I feel - jealous, but in a good way. The quality and attention to...
Was going to ask you about the holes left by removing the rubbing strips and whether you sealed them or not. My question has been answered.
Guessing the roof scoop sits over the aerial hole?
lovely garage set-up by the way
That would be great if you could mate. BMW MK were not exactly that helpful. Its due to top 100k any day now so we have the 102k service very soon,
Nah they are sound. really can't wait to get going on that project... as mentioned got to finish the clio first though
uh, yeah. knowing how it was on my clio i salute you sir. You can weld though so have surpassed me now.
Looks like a great project, will be following this moving forward
The car does not have an audible issue at all, our thoughts were just more a precautionary measure as the 5k cost of a new engine/rebuild etc are a bit scary.
Nah not at all, can't really complain about them at all, especially with the generosity of the barn
I am fully aware you shared some of the fun with James. ha... character building wasn't it? We are debating what to do with our daily currently as its one of the N47 engines...
Not too far then really, I haven't met you yet but that doesn't sound like to bad a thing.. I hear you're an alright...
Where you inspired by James' BMW tribulations that you felt you could change things from the inside? ha
Just the other side of Tamworth, near Coleshill
So the cage has been ordered, a 6-point weld in Oreca/Sassa item.
I have also got some new inner rear arches on the way as my current ones aren't ideal.
excited to start mocking up the cage and interior.
This has happened a few times during this build, it even kind of started the same way if you go back to the start of this thread
This time around I was pretty close to getting rid, a couple of friends have recently sold/are selling what i thought was their pride and joys and thats what...
To be honest none of those appeal. But a friend today has reminded me of the 1 series saloons which I quite like so I am going to look into those.
It needs to be fun and able to use it everyday - but thats the extent of my criteria.
We have a 318d we share currently but where we are moving to...
Proper pain on Photobucket, but oh well.
I am after some ideas,
I am debating on giving in on my long term project and getting something that I can use daily but is also good fun to drive.
I have had my project for around 8-10 years but took it off the road approx 5-6 years ago to build it...
Glad other people have had the same issue.... well not glad, but you know what I mean....
Over 100 pages on my thread and the images all gone.
You do know that you can log into photobucket and download them though?
Well photobuckets 3rd party hosting changes are going to kill this thread. $39.99 per month to post photo's, no thank you.
Luckily for photo's sake I haven't done any more work recently - more life changes, again these are leading me to consider whether to proceed of sell off.... still...
You are probably happy with your contact but it may be worth looking up Alitech. He is my neighbour (in Wolverton) but has his facility in Silverstone. Very talented guy and very into his cars, has done a lot of stuff for Lotus' but has a massive portfolio.
Did you see my PM by the way?
Hi Cameron,
Such a great project. I was un-aware you were on cliosport. Had I known I would have directed you to my project thread on here when we were talking about cages for my project.
The work on this project is second to none, really beautiful with such nice attention to detail -...
UPDATE: Again to the garage
All finished on the garage, so shortly back to working on the car now all the garage is straight. its so much easier to work in now and lots more space. It has hardly cost me anything too with free insulation and cheap plasterboard. The back wall is clad in pine bed...
UPDATE: again to the garage rather than the car... but as soon as this is done the car will be started again (as and when freelance funds allow)
BEFORE
AFTER
Little more left to do like finishing my desk/cabinet, hang the bikes and tools then all good
ha, cheers man
UPDATE: well kinda...
I thought this was gaining a little too much traction and all going a little too well... so i have resigned from my job.
still 100% wanna get this done in 2017 though
