197 engine and box into 172

Will keep my eye on this. Presume it's for the RB track car to keep it nice and daily driver whilst allowing some easier maintenance and shorter ratio's for track? Interesting idea though, although aren't the boxes supposed to be worse than the 172 boxes for failing?

    Ph-lower progress

Nice to see it being used properly and not doing 20mph everywhere like Harpham did it in. Lovely.

    E36 3.0 ITB Race Build

Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2) Ah fair enough. Does seem a strange issue tbh especially seeing as you had everything skimmed and tested first time round, the only variable is the head gasket really. Fingers crossed anyway.

A little AD Powershell help, please?

    I'm dire at powershell but a a look on StackOverflow brings up this: $memberOf = @{n='MemberOf';e={ ($_.MemberOf -replace '^CN=([^,]+).+$','$1') -join ';' }} Get-QADUser -SizeLimit 0 | ` Select-Object Name,DN,SamAccountName,$memberOf | ` Export-Csv report.csv

It puts more stress on driveshafts, wheel bearings etc but it's not that much more really

    "Totoro" Ongoing project

Nice plans so far. You should really fit spacers though. Car looks ridiculous once lowered on cooksports and cup shocks. Needs the wheels to fill the arch a little better.

Charging an iPhone at an event without sockets

Yeah charge them at a wall socket when they drain. They obviously take FOREVER to charge though.

Charging an iPhone at an event without sockets

Portable powerpacks are brilliant bits of kit. I find myself using mine more than I thought I would. Got myself a 22400mAh one from Amazon and it's done about 7 charges no worries and still has life left. Brilliant bit of kit. Charges just as fast as a wall charger too when in the quicker of...

    Project: BMW E21.

Didn't realise it broke down en route. Those reliable BMW's eh. Car is looking great, once I've finished spending every single waking moment postponing the inevitable breakdown I'm going to have with mine I'll pop round for a catchup. Also Oli's M3 came up well after a wax...

It's what I keep telling myself to keep me sane anyway. In other news whilst trying to locate my random knock I've ripped the threaded bar out of the engine mount. Car 1 - 0 Rhys.

    Dropping Subframe for box removal

That doesn't include the subframe bolt that got stuck and stopped you getting it out properly the first time round ;)

    Dropping Subframe for box removal

I actually wrote that in my project thread! With an engine crane it'd be much faster to just whip the engine and box out together rather than the box on its own.

See, with the money thing I don't mind that. As far as spending on the car goes I consider it my hobby so to me it isn't wasted money.

    172 Shock stuck

First off is the car on the floor? If you've got it in the air you're just making the job harder for yourself. I just stuck a deep socket on it and a breaker bar. Didn't even bother with the Allen key in the top

I'm going to be after a sunflower

If you plan on making it mint over a few years surely the stuff you replaced in year 1 won't be mint by year 3 or 4?

    Dropping Subframe for box removal

It's sods law that you'll damage the rack but rather than piss about with the steering alignment and possibly not lining it up correctly I'd just undo the 4 bolts holding the rack to the subframe. They are a pain as you can barely get any movement on a spanner on the top 2 (bottom two are easy)...

    Scott's Super Clean PH1 172 Project Thread

That's ridiculous. Absolute credit to you. I know others have said it's one of the best ph1's out there but I can't think of one that would sit higher up the list than this. Incredible.

Whats wrong with your car right now??

Does the car blow a constant temperature no matter what setting you have the heater on? If so check my project thread. It's a pretty easy fix using only a couple of torx sockets and a cable tie :)

    Welshname's Monaco 172

I think taking the box and engine out as one and doing it all off the car would have honestly been quicker. Only thing I can think of that would potentially bite you in the arse would be the manifold bolts.

    Welshname's Monaco 172

Looks wise for the car not an awful lot tbh. List of things to do is pretty big though. It's a never ending cycle! I want a cup spoiler, shorter aerial, 182 interior as mine is a LOT shabby and the 182 interior is a little fresher, ph1 gearknob, snappy steeringwheel, wheels need refurbing...

Yeah I'll give you a shout. I'm avoiding driving it at the minute except for work until the driveshaft is sorted and I've found the other knock. Must have left something loose. It's ridiculously soft in comparison thought. Much nicer to use.
