Im having a front sparco strut brace fitted this w/e. Will let you know if it makes any difference. Have got Koni Shocks & PI springs and the car handles so much better than standard.
Also brake wise am putting on Ferodo DS 2000 on front & rear. Will eventually put in higher spec. brake fluid...
I have definately noticed a difference with my induction kit as well. The key in my opinion is to use reasonably large bore heat resistant pipe that feeds air directly from the front of the car.
My cold air feed is located under headlight with an air scoop placed in bumper vent - this is...
Be carefull with the cats as well. When I rang up parts @ a Renault dealer they wanted over £800 for new cats - was just enquiring to see what they cost new.
All I can say is Ive got BMC induction kit and Magnex oval cat back system and my car knocked out 160 BHP @ wheels. This was with loads of other Clios and the road seemed fairly accurate when a Std. 16v put out what was expected.
So I doubt the BMC kit was responsible on its own for the power...
Bought them from Chris @ Carnossieur in Southend. Paid just over £315 for a set of four. He didnt make much on them so may charge some more.
Well originally the PI springs lowered the car 25mm at the front and 15mm at the rear. I would say that the Konis have taken it down a further 10 to...
I reckon I must have done 15K miles on the std. shocks with the PI springs fitted. The leaks were discovered after about 12K miles using the PI springs.
Have done lots of trips on bumpy roads as well !!
Had the Konis fitted Saturday. The car sits even lower now with very little space between wheel and arch - if any.
Already had PI springs and the Std. shocks were starting to leak.
There used to be a horrible rebound on the std. shocks when hitting bumps, etc. This is now sorted. Havent had...
I also had an almost identical conversation with him sometime last year. In the in end I had a BMC induction kit fitted. No problems so far - touch wood
I would have thought that Mark Fish would know as they race prepare the Clio Cup cars and do the engine work on them.

You sure it wasnt 147.5 at the wheels??
147.5 at the flysheel would be bad !
I cant understand why your car would be down 25 BHP @ flywheel.
Take your car to another rolling road and get an @ wheels figure.
Can you please try and find out where
the Cams and ECU came from?
I would have thought Throttle Bodies will take you to at least 220 BHP with Exhaust and custom engine management.
Cost will be at least £3000.
Youll obviously have to throw away your old induction kit ;-)
You might want to modify the head and cams.
Cost will be somewhere between £1000 &...
Hi Si,
Just trying to get the options down so I can recall them in the future. Will be getting UniChip done next. Maybe in the future if still have car then I would consider head and throttle bodies.
I think before head and throttle bodies would go for nitrous as that seems such a cheap...

The innovations break at PROWLER! This time, it is the case of new the CLIO RS which is...
Have been searching through old posts and to summarise it would appear that power gains can be had from Head & Cam work although from what I read Cam swaps arent recommended.
EFJIE a french company at some point did a 198bhp tuning pack for the 172 (Clio RS in France) which involved the...
What Chip have you had fitted? Is it a Dastek Unichip?
Did you have any head work done?
Ive heard people saying that it is difficult to do cam work on the 172 and the std. cams are good. Let us know what make and what they did to them?
Cheers,
Si
I paid around £100 for the PI springs from Carnossieur in Southend. Then had them fitted for £60 cash @ XTreme in Harlow.
It does tighten the handling up and stops the body roll through the twisties. The ride gets very harsh though on country roads !
Ive had the springs on now for over 10k...
Ive ordered some Koni shocks today. Cant wait to get them fitted. Going to fit a sparco front strut brace at the same time - should tighten up the handling nicely !!
