I'm betting you've got air in the ABS Module. 2+ Hours of bleeding might see you through. Otherwise you need CLiP(Renaults computer) to bleed it.

If the inlet cam is too far advanced, it'll idle perfectly, then at 1500 start sounding like an old fiesta.

Tbh with how strong it feels I wouldn't be surprised if with an RS2 fitted, it'd crack the 200 mark aswell.

Or, there is no fault and it's just the exhaust making it sound like there is.

Well you've answered your own question. Oil pressure issue, probably spun bearing caused by low pressure. Tbh any decent tech would've known that a noise caused by low oil pressure wouldn't have sounded like a dephaser. Although if the garage diagnosed it as a dephaser and it didn't fix it...

The cable all the way to the sensor is ok? Is the sensor damaged by the driveshaft?

You'll be lucky if you can unbolt the stub axle without holding the bolts from the disc side. Yes I think you'll have stripped the threads on the stub axle.

Cutting disc into it both sides and chisel it off. Replace the driveshaft too. And the wheel bearing that's knackered.
