I was building a hill climb car a few years ago but it had to go unfortunately. Now I'm looking into using the Clio. Although tbh spending a whole day for 5 minutes of driving isn't great.
I'd have to check the blue book very carefully as its for the road class. Things like induction, exhaust...
Thanks! I just saw those in another post!
They're weights from a 172 cup with thinner glass, so I assumer would there be more saving with the other models?
Hmm very tempted. I'm a bit worried it wouldn't do with the leccy mirrors, windows and radio.
Rally Design do the RMD25 for £60 and Rapid Electronics do the same one for £40
Re: Ph1 172
Bought all the stuff a while ago. I was supposed to be doing a ported and polished head as well but funds have been tight recently.
Whilst the car is in the garage in bits I need to get a new clutch, makes sense to ARP it as well.
Things have improved financially now so I should...
Yes! A proper car. Get a Duratec in there, 2.3 would be nice with Cosworth cams and a D power inlet for daily use.
And FRP > ITR, no question about it. VTEC...yawn.
Re: Ph1 172
Got my inlet today from ALDevelopments. Pictures hardly do it any justice. Ports matched to Renault gaskets, throttle body area smoothed and mating faces machined.
Price is £150 including delivery for those interested.[...
Rings need a quick bedding in with some high gear, low speed WOT to start with then as above. I.E 5th gear at 30mph.
No point paying a premium for 'proper' running in oil either. Just the cheapest basic stuff will do becuase A, you won't use it long enough and B, it won't get hot enough to...
Well a 1*2 with 197 cams and a RS2 inlet makes close to 200bhp. And a standard 197 in reality is more like 185bhp. So you should see around 200bhp IMO, maybe a bit more with the better VVT control on the 197.
The only problem is the clearance and the lower part of the inlet has a different bolt...
I would talk to 519 about ITBs instead tbh.
But the inlet on the 197 is better flowing so gains aren't as great.
Some people have seen up to 30bhp from ITBs on the 172 and 15-20bhp on the 197.
What are the weight savings on the Clio from a set of poly windows (Found a value of 5kg for the fronts but what about the rear?) and a fibreglass tailgate with full internals.
Also can the tailgate be used with the standard lock and hinges?
