So how the hell do I get at the locking nut behind the plastic casing then?
Because when it comes to reconnecting it, how do I stop the bolt from spinning when I tighten it up?
I'm not sure about that mate. lol
I've truly had enough of Clios as an everyday car.
I honestly think the French designed these cars to last 10 years,
because it's just one problem after another now, I had 5 years of relatively trouble free motoring,
those days are well and truly gone! :(
I know I feel guilty and more than a little stupid that I didn't check the battery before you came round and changed the starter,
but at least you know how to change a 1*2s starter motor now. lol :o
The whole lot span together, other than trying to dismantle the alternator in the engine bay,
there was no other way, i'll probably put it all back together and it'll still be f*cked.
You know what the dog kennel's like, it's not happy unless it takes all my money.
Right, I cave-maned the f*cker of by hacksawing through the nut,
all I need to do now is get a new 13mm spade connector,
and a new 13mm flanged nut, unless it's some kind of weird special French nut?
Then I can jump start it and see if it's solved the charging issue.
I was trying to undo this nut and the connector snapped,
and the bolt turns with the nut, probably because they're so corroded they're now one piece of metal/rust.
I've found out what's wrong with the dog kennel, the alternator isn't charging the battery.
So I decided to take off the live wire and clean the connector,
in the process of undoing the bolt the connector snapped and the bolt now turns with the nut.
Is it new alternator time, and if it is, do...
£995 for that, surely there's a 1 missing from the front of that number?
If that's genuine, that's a f*cking bargain and it looks like it's had some work done to it already...
I can't even find the starter motor tbh, someone told me to remove the battery and airbox to gain access,
but it's not under there, as far as I know it's under the exhaust manifold.
That is exactly what i'm after,
my favourite shape with some decent mods, I want it now!!!
Sadly it'll be March by the time i've got the money,
i've a few photo jobs lined that should get me back on track with saving.
No one will accept magic beans,
so until i've saved up all the money i'll have to stick with my broken Clio.
If the f*cking thing hadn't broken down so much last year i'd have one by now. :dapprove:
How reliable are the classic wagons?
I don't want to swap one unreliable car or another.
This is my favourite shaped wagon, but good ones are the same price as old STi Wagons.
I just want one that's comfortable, reliable, and is capable of doing a journey of a few hundred miles with ease...
Indeed, this place has saved me a fortune over the years,
plus i've met some seriously cool people.
Although i've now had my fill of Clios, time to scratch my Impreza itch I think.
