Thought about a ph1 172? You could probably get one for the same as your 1.2 is worth. Definitely worth waiting a little bit longer if it means less hassle though, impatience can be a b*****d most of the time.

Tried the HT leads? Not sure if this has been mentioned but it's happened a few times on my 1.2 which led to spluttering and eventually the engine packing in. Sometimes too, if it's hesitating I turn the engine off and back on again and it's fine.
