Just one thing.
Don't forget to write the EXACT TIME he took it
off your hands in a 24h clock, you dont want him
getting done for speeding and then blaming you.
If you have the service book (the red one)
its printed inside the frount cover at the bottom.
Just pray that the code in the book is the one
for the stereo in your car.
When I bought my 172 someone had put a different
head unit in so my code diddn't work.
Had to buy a completely new...
Ive got a 172 FF, when I got it the exhausts was
blowing and leaking water vapour from one of the
joins.
£10 exhaust heat sealent from halfrauds
sorted it.
(as long as the hole or gap isnt that big)
OK I'll check the solonoid.
My cars a 52 plate so no warenty left on it.
I'll have to paty more cash.
Bloody car, the only thing that works properly
is the engine.
Ive just realised that when I lock the car
the boot stays unlocked!
When you open it the alarm goes off,
but this is no good if i'm not near the car.
Has anyone else had this problem?
How do you sort it out?
Ive been searching for a new head unit and some of
them are compatable with steering controls,
some of the cheaper Alpines.
There around £100-£200.
I did all my research online, just typed in
car stereos and found loads.
If you buy one that isn't compatable then an
adapter is needed £20ish.
Ive got the code, guess i'll just have to wait it out.
Problem is Ive been told by renault that it could
take an hour to reset.
Someone on the forum a few week ago told me that
it could take up to 24 hours.
Is there a maximum time that it will go up to,
or will it just keep going into...
The stereo was locked out when I bought the car.
Guess I'll have to buy an extra battery
and let that one go flat while I wait for it to sort its
head out.
Cant really leave the keys in the ignition all day though
someone will nick it.
The guy at car electronics never mentioned an adapter,
he was young so he might not know jack about it.
Someone must have had the same problem as me,
does anyone know how much these adapters are?
TITS!
Does anyone know how I can get the standard head unit timed out?
Ive had the keys in the ignition for an hour and it did nothing,
still wouldn't let me enter the code.
It needs timing out, can anyone help.
Im in Nottingham so need someone in the east Mids.
Ive just been to car electronics in Nottingham
and the guy in there told me that no head unit is
compatible with my renault alpine multichanger,
except for the standard one.
Is he correct?
Im sure the previous owner had a different one
in because the key holes are a bit worn.
Im gonna stop going in renault for anything other than parts.
Ive had a s**t day one of my neighbours has scraped my wheel arch parking, ive only had the car a week and a half.
Im not having much luck today.
Right!
Ive left it for over an hour and still nothing!
How am I supposed to leave it swithed on for 24 hours
without the keys in the ignition?
The stereo was the last thing on my mind as far as mods
are concerened.
Renault charged me the best part of 20quid for the code,
however they...
Thanks for the replies, will do the timing out thing
hopefully that will sort it.
At least my exaltos are in at the garage,
one thing to be happy about.
It wont even give me 0000 in order to enter the code
I do have the steering controls and do know how to enter it,
it just wont let me.
Looks like i'll either have to throw money at renault,
or buy a new head unit!
Ive now left the head unit switched on,
I'll give an hour and a bit see if...
What is the deal with the standard head unit?!
It just says code and wont do anything.
Ive got the code off Renault, but I cant enter it.
I pulled the fuse out hoping it would reset it back to default mode
and let me enter the code, no such luck!
The guys at Renault Notts told me it would...
I am about to change the oil and filter, aswell as the air filter
so hopefully it will sound a bit better when starting in the
morning.
Its a good car, it just has a few quirks.
Ive never realy owned a proper performance car before,
the fastest thing ive owned was a brand new Golf GT 4Motion 140bhp.
My mates got a 182 cup and his is well quiet except for the
SS Miltek Exhaust. (His is newish though) 8,000 miles on it.
The power delivery on mine is smooth on...
Ive had my 172 FF for a week now, got use to it now sort of.
Still not use to the ferocious power, im not so much driving it as holding on for dear life!
When its started from cold it sounds like a bag of spanners,
aftrer about two minutes it settles down, then after its warmed up
its better...
Can any one help me please.
I work for myself and the 172 is going to be used everyday all year round
in all weather conditions. (Its not been bought as a weekend warrior)
I know most of you reacon that exaltos are the way to go,
but I just spoke to K-Tec and they said if I want all weather...
The back stepped out on me today round a bend, I wasn't even going quick. Scared the crap out of me, controled it with a dash of opposite lock, but i'd like tyres that grip in all conditions. Guess that means Exaltos.
