I have no car next week, until I can arrange to get it sorted - you know of any local mobile mechanics? Thankfully I have a weeks holiday the week after, but I'm assuming it'll be sorted by then!

So I've cut the belt with a Stanley knife, as @Daniel suggested. Managed to get the thing out (nightmare with hands like mine!) and started the ignition - no knocking noise, so I'm hoping that it's okay, and just needs an Aux belt...
Lad. What if you accidentally get up out of your seat quickly without realising, and you old man is hanging out the pyjama hole? Would that equate to more work for you?

Sounds like a plan. The other half will be out of the house for 12 hours plus each day too, so I can relax with red wine and xbox in relative peace (as much peace as I can have with the impending second dog)
