I still think the subject was too ambitious. For me, non of the photos represent the title of "the affects of modern industry on wildlife".

He's implying the d40 is crap compared to the 400d, which i'm prepared to help prove isn't the case. I'm all ears to hear your better idea sweetness...
lol, I would go as far as to say that out of the box, with the kit lens, the D40 will produce better images.
If you don't beleive me, we can compare your first pics with mine when you post them up.

Been on the look out for one of these for a couple of weeks, 2nd hand ones have been going for approx £100 on ebay. Bought one yesterday from a UK seller for £72 brand new! good old ebay.
Think there are a few owners of this lens on here, is it any good?
I wouldn't say you need a tripod, the HDR photos I did were all done in photoshop from one original image - creating 2 additional images by adjusting the exposure
