I've already put brand new sliders in so that's no worries. Only just got this car really so going through it all step by step.
Bit of a pain really as im going home tomorrow so wanted the brakes to he working properly for the drive back. Will have a look in the morning see if I can turn it...
Thing is I hardly even moved the piston out. Had been hoping to avoid bleeding as that one's rounded but ahh well. I do have stainless nipples on order but bank holiday weekend means they won't arrive :(
Will bleed it tomorrow and hopefully that solves it.
Had a proper badly seized slider...
My brakes seem to be spongy now that I have changed my front sliders. I pushed out the piston on the nearside caliper slightly then pushed it back in. Was a bit of a struggle getting it back over the pads and required a slight tap with a rubber mallet.
Think I have gotten air into the system...
This is true. I was kind of glad that the belts hadn't been done as I got it for a bargain, then could take it to a specialist knowing that it's fine afterwards.
Expect to have people knock money off if the belts havn't been done, even if you have taken this into account people will still knock money off.
Having the belts done means more cost to you, but you can put this into the sale price and also will get you more attention as the cars ready to go...
I hadn't looked in your thread for a while, you were still struggling with the garage last time i did but what a change! That workspace looks 10x bigger/better now its painted, i'm very jealous.
Hopefully you don't come across too many issues when stripping your loom. Looks like you're doing it...
Surely when it was taken in they should have heard that it wasn't right? Or afterwards when they must have had it running upto temp?
I guess if you don't know if they're meant to sound like that you wouldn't know, specialists all the way. To be fair I was worried mine didn't sound right even...
I'd meant more by letting it get to temperature and checking whether it rattles to s**t. This shows wear, no? Pretty noticeable and i doubt that sort of sound has come right away.
Where did you take this to be done? I doubt the sounds from timing, no, as often it'll just s**t itself when you fire it up or run OK. Mine was well out, and ran fairly well. I'm guessing waterpump wasn't done either though, hope they checked this for leaks/wear.
Sounds like dephaser. Who did the work? Can't believe they didn't check for wear in the dephaser when they did it. Any self respecting mechanic would have done so. Makes you question the rest of the work done! Hope they used proper tools.
It's belts off again for the dephaser to be replaced and...
Sweet, I don't think i'll be tracking anyway however much I want to! Hopefully i'll get some passenger laps in with people though.
Anyone else bringing the Mrs? Mine wants to come with
I thought you had updated your list, as i'm still not on it.
Can't make this one i'm afraid, working 2-12 on that saturday. I'll try get it off tomorrow but doubtful as i only work one day a week. Really wanted to come on this one aswell.
That's ace! I love seeing stuff like this. Really makes me want to get my da on mine, hopefully this weekend!
If you ever do use some touchup paint on that rear bumper, would you be able to show the steps you go through please? I have a scraped front bumper, and im hoping to get it somewhat...
It's not always 'ignored', people who actually know how to answer certain questions aren't always online when a thread is started. This can make it go quite far down the new posts when those particular people do log on, hence less chance of being seen. Just bump it everyday if you don't get the...
If the pebbles aren't too deep, maybe scrape them to the side to make a nice square base? Otherwise a big piece of wood to spread the load would be fine.
Loads of my final year project work has been on axle stands/jacking up vehicles and it's scary the amount of people who have experienced...
My dashcam has it's own inbuilt battery and parking mode. So if it detects motion it records from it's own battery. Charges with the engine running. Simples.
I do get what you're saying. Be more fun if you were in that mentality to just drive the car how it's meant to be driven and respray it, service it etc as you go along. Then you enjoy it more and it looks good.
