    Small pipe that comes down towards the passenger headlight mate. That's if I remember rightly, been a long time since I had a 172. Probably nothing do with it, but its worth checking, and your symptoms defo sound like an air leak.

    If your wiring directly from the battery, and you want it permanently live then there's no need for a relay at all. Just a fuse close to the battery

    But what if both wheels have an even amount of traction? Power goes to both wheels, its just when one breaks traction, all the power will then go to that one wheel
