I was just coming to this;) Did no one see when they tested these 2 cars together on 5th gear???? 0-60 win for the vxr, rolling start to something (I can't remember) derv wins. Round the track the vxr took it by about 0.2 sec. So imo it could have gone either way, its down to the driver not...
1.6 clio shouldn't be too bad;) , although I didn't look into them when I was looking for a new car a few months ago. It depends how much room you need also? I think Lupo's are expensive for what they are, you would be better with a Seat Arosa if you want something that small. For 3500 my money...
esp is electronic stability program. from what I know the focus 2.0 is not good on fuel. 1.6 and 1.8 are slow. tdci expensive. You could get a very nice 1.8 astra sri or sxi for 3500. they handle well and are quickish and you will get 40 mpg out of them. imo I also think they don't look to bad...
You might as well get a 172 fo the amount of fuel a 2.0 focus will sup. have you thought about a astra 1.8 sri. Cheeper than the focus and insurance shouldn't be to bad ;-)
Yep, thats just like mine. Has yours always been like this and have you ever looked into it further. I just tried the pedal on a friends 1.2 clio and hers didn't do this. Going to take it back to the garage I got it from today and see what they say.
Track day sounds good to me, never done one:) (or a meet for that matter:o ).
As for my brakes, I was thinking could it be the fluid being to low or would that make the light come on the dash. I have been thinking so far it can't be that bad as there has been no warning lights yet?
They arn't that bad they do work well kind of. It is just the travel on the pedal seems short and hits the floor. Going to take it back again tomorrow and see what they say. I am hoping he has another in stock so I can compare it.
Oh and Rob I will come to a meet but I think I will be to...
Well I have had my brakes bled now (so they say?) and they still dont seem much better in that the pedal still hits the floor. Any one have any other ideas that I can look into?
Cheers:o
Cheers, will deffo get my self to a meet sometime in the not to distant future. Was wanting a black one to start with but I am happy with the silver now:)
It seems to be fine on gentle to medium braking, it's just if you brake full on from 60-0 it brakes well but it hits the metal and holds there. Kind of still stops well but never getting much abs response at any point.
Cheers for that, don't think I have gone close to the point of fading yet though, my last car was a pug 306 td (tuned) and the brakes on that thing did fade:dapprove: . Still getting used to all the power at the mo, so think the standard brakes should do for now. All the reviews I read said it...
Right, okay then will get it back to the garage I got it from. Wasn't sure if it might have been the esp/abs taking over things. But as long as I know it isn't normal then thats fine. Cheers:D
Hi all, picked up my new car. First off WOW, amazing car for the money and loving it:) . Question though, I notice if I slam my brakes as hard as poss the pedel hits the metal as it were. It still seems to stop well but I am not sure if it should hit the metal? Should note that when I got the...
As much as I like my bike I would take the 172 any day over a 1L new corsa (the best I could afford). I was thinking of the astra sri2.2 or a st170, but after a test drive of a 172 it had to be a hot hatch over a warm hatch. That and my brother has a cooper s, so I had to get something that will...
I know but I'm sure it would be worth it when the time comes. What is the cheapest/easiest way of getting them to 200bhp? Also has anyone ever tried to get a mountain bike in the back (with seat down) of one? I never got chance to try on the test drives.
Dont think I can afford anything for the first year at least. The first thing will probably be a SS exhaust once the standard one drops off. Its a shame it isn't as easy as changing the boost and adjusting the fuel pump/compensator as on the pug to get an extra 20-25 bhp. Oh well cant have it...
Hi all, as above and can’t wait now:D . I would just like to thank all for the great info on this site. Its all helped me whilst trying to find a good 172 (hopefully anyway). I will be handing over the keys of my manually tuned Pug 306 TD for the 172. It has given me a few years of fun driving...
