Mate, take your rear brake drums off, inspect the brakes, clean and adjust them up, put them all back together.
You should then find the handbrake travel will be ok.
cut the old one off with a hacksaw, pulling it is ok but you may damage the actual gear stick and dislodge it, best to cut it as you wont damage anything

thats a very good site for what it says in the testing manual
As an mot tester myself, a lowered car is not illegal and fully roadworthy, bonnet pins are not illegal (they are if they cause a danger to other road users i.e sharp), and the wheels would only fail the mot test if the hit the arches, otherwise all ok.
I would have slaughtered them big time...
I would love to get a V6 Mk2, the ONLY thing that stops me is that I have to park it on the road everynight.
I wouldnt be able to sleep at night worrying that some burbury baseball cap yob would damage it.

I used Renault Minute, get 50% off labour cost as I work for the group.
They charge a fairly decent labour rate anyway, and book time is 1.2 hour so I sort told him what I was gona pay. So effectively paying 0.6 hr for the job.
Its even cheaper than I would have charged to do a service on the...
And I had to pay for it:(
But I supplied all the parts and for a 12,000 mile service it cost me 29.50
And they done the tracking and sorted my exhaust rattle out
Very happy man:D
