Burpspeed Version 2: Race Car Build

It sounded like it was more wheel contact from where we were stood tbh. Went with a good old bang as well!! Ah yes, the long suffering other half! Lol! She's a good un really, and never said a word whilst travelling at over 165 in my other car! Lol! She just sat there eating the chicken nuggets...

Rear end waggle under hard braking / snaking scary results?

The compensator has a arm on it, but it's not connected to anything. The arm on the compensator is held in the up position by a spring that attaches to the chassis. This keeps the compensator in the closed position, but when the brake pedal is pressed, the arm deflects downwards to reduce the...

Rear end waggle under hard braking / snaking scary results?

Yes mate they do. They're the single reason why the majority of cups fail mot every year! Lol

    Toastfrenzy's Tin Top, some say...........

Yes that's it mate. Closed = full effort to the rear brakes. You could replace it, but i would've thought you'd be better off replacing it with a new Renault one tbh.

    Toastfrenzy's Tin Top, some say...........

There should be a spring that goes into a hole in the chassis and on to the arm of the compensator to keep it in the up position. It makes sure it returns back to that position then all the time. As mark123 is saying, it should move downwards with the brakes applied to reduce the pressure to the...

    Geometry settings

Its all personal preference really, but this is what i'd chose for my own car. For the camber you want about 1.5-2.0 degrees negative on the front for fast road use. At the rear you need shims to adjust the camber and the toe, so you'll not be bothering with that. For the tracking you...

    Harness fitment in the trophy

It's all about the angle of the seat back rest. On bucket seats they have to installed with the back rest nigh on vertical, or that's what all the gumpf said when I bought my pole position recaros. You have a small window of tolerance of a few degrees reclined, but that's your lot. Also if the...

Rear end waggle under hard braking / snaking scary results?

Your brake compensator valve could be seized as well. If it's seized in the closed position (as they do move - only by a small amount though) it will be getting more pressure to the rear brakes. That would cause it to snake under braking, but only if it's heavy braking really. You need new...

    steering rack bushes

I've fitted solid rack mounts to another car I own and it makes the steering feel sharper, but at the expense of more road noise and vibrations. Having removed a rack on a Clio, I'd say to fit the bushes is a bit of a pita tbh. With the engine in and subframe attached it's far from a nice job...

Yes through Noos or seiz over on cliors-concept mate. They offer some stiffer nylon alternatives.

Spring rates for a race Clio

They leak mate. That's the main issue with them. The ones my mate had corroded really badly as well even though they're coated to protect them. The rear height adjuster collars seized and so did the adjustment knob. It didn't help that they were out in all the salt and crap though tbh. The...

Whiteline ARB - Fitting angle ok??

By the looks of the thread on the link bars it's about 8mm?? (13mm spanner size) If that's the case I would imagine Fred is saying to shorten them to reduce the flex. At that length they will allow a lot of movement from the leverage and there's always a possibility they could snap, although...

Spring rates for a race Clio

Am I right in assuming that your having these valved to suit the rear springs you'll be using? Iirc, they have quite a few clicks of adjustment on them so it should allow you quite a range of spring rates that you can use. +\- 50-100lb in most cases. A mate of mine had them on a Clio...

Best rear setup for 172 cup?

The springs were made up by coilsprings in Sheffield. They were custom made to my spec. They can make anything you like, you just need to ring them up and ask their opinion mate. For track work and fast road you are going to be compromised though. If you go to stiff it will be almost...

Best rear setup for 172 cup?

The bearing conversion kit for the rear beam removes the play that you get from using the original rubber bushes. These are replaced with spherical bearings and locate the rear axle more securely. That in turn means that the geometry at the back end remains the same. When I got my springs made...

    Nurburgring Wet Lap

Did you get any dry running when you were there? The key to the ring is track knowledge mate, and that only really comes with putting in the laps. I always find that it's reasonably grippy in those conditions. It's when it's just rained that it's a bit dicey!!

Best rear setup for 172 cup?

I run kw v2's on my car and found the rear way to soft for track work. I opted to modify the kw's and had custom made stiffer rear springs and got the kw dampers revalved to my settings. Works perfect on track now and is useable on the road. I also use the pure motorsport bearing kit in the...

    172 Cup Track/Fast Road car.

Yeah it was a bit of trial and error with mine tbh. I also thought about getting mine painted and the dents removed but I can't really be arsed! 8:39 is your ring target time! That's on road tyres as well! Pulled that out the bag this weekend. Well made up! 15's and r888's next year!!
