Yes, Williams over 16v is probably worthwhile..
But, it puts you in a similar position to me when I had my 1.2.. it was just better to get a Williams to start with.. and then you do get the track, brakes, interior, and everything else which makes a Williams. Just things like the rear track...
16v/Willy CAT/DeCats are different.. it all has to match.. 16v downpipe with 16v cat or Williams downpipe with Williams Cat.. even then, the mounts are different between a 16v and a Williams after the cat towards the backbox.. but thats not going to make much difference.
Williams driveshafts...
Looks OK, but, its £25 delivery and youll probably get taxed when it comes in too.. I think.. so it could turn out quite a lot.
Then, you gotta hope it works.. cus if it dont, then its a long way to send back..
Good luck mate.
Bit of a swine that isnt it. Was it serviced by Renault all of the time?
I would definetly be trying to get something sorted by them - especially if it does have full Renault history!
Williams is 2.0!
1.8 16v is a Valver.
Its not difficult - same engine bay etc.. but make sure you uprate suspension and definetly brakes before doing anything.
1) New clutch probably.. mine snapped a cable and was mega stiff - the clutch itself was well worn.
2) You have the rust cut out, new plate welded in and sprayed normally.. Get it sealed properly tho, else itll just rust again within a few months.
3) The flashing 30 means no sensor I think...
Id like to see anyone get a decent Escort Cosworth for less than 10k..
Id be looking at spending a few more thousand and getting an Impreza WRX STi myself.. or a P1.
