I think most clio sport owners aren't cut out for willy ownership matey, a lot of sport owners are either too young or have bought 172's/182's purely because they're looking for something else...

as much as my heart disagree's get a ph1 172 - by far the best daily prospect - a cheap willy is cheap for a reason, you can get it seems some ace ph1 172's for average willy money..
give me a brand new one and I could drive it hard for years but in a proper way while looking after the box, problem is (as you probably know bill!) previous owners, 7 people on the log book is a lot of different heads using the box/engine in a different way - in a perfect world we'd all buy...
Sounds like yours was a dog which is a shame, I had mine for three (fockin' ;)) years and the most expensive thing mechanically was the belt changes...
Just to update, where the clusters are there is two gromits, one per side - take them out for the night and cover them with black tape or something and see if its still doing it.
Thats where mine was leaking, I re-glued the gromits and all's been well for months.
good mileage! must admit when I saw this one I had to have it, only had 32k on an 02 plate, just hit 37k now.

which is bigger? or are they the same size?
I.e if you try to put a renault cap on a speedline wheel does it fall through? too big for the wheel? just loose?
