2k? I had the same itch a while ago, I say go for it. It's not like you have got a load of mods to worry about selling on or loosing loads of money on... R26 are awesome out of the box and a massive step up from your standard spec!
Managed to get 30mins at lunch to start pulling the engine out, got shafts out, radiator/ac condenser out, strut brace, ecu, heater matrix pipes, inlet and exhaust unbolted. Will do more tomorrow but progress has been made!
Haha, went to watch Wolf of Wall Street, mate seriously I'll have a chat to a couple of engineering mates tmoro and see if they are up for a challenge, good guys to have on board for brackets, machining etc. At the mo I'm putting a seat Leon cupra lump into a mk2 golf, finishing off welding...
Making it as reliable as possible mate, I'm not going to forge for the foreseeable future so I may as well, I'm pulling the engine out anyway doing belts, small leak on the cam cover so a few bolts more to take the head off isn't a problem. Just means it can be pushed that little bit harder on...
Yeah got to admit Andy has a great rep and his prices are amazing just can't see the sense in having another mechanic doing it, I think he'd agree if it was the other way around!
It was £2250 for the turbo kit minus the management, on top of that I bought a secondhand gen90, mapping is extra too.. I'm fitting it myself which I'll enjoy alot, fixing customers cars is satisfying but playing with my own car is awesome!!
Yes mate, fitting the thicker head gasket and running 99ron when mapped so were looking for around 240 but anything over 230 well mapped would be a bonus on low boost.. Lots of happy low boost guys out there!

Clutch wise, have the majority of guys with low boost turbo had any clutch issues with standard? I'm seriously considering changing mine to something a little more heavy duty, not sure if it needs it though??
