I’ve got a silverline one from eBay. About £50.
I’ve had it for about 3 years. It gets used at least twice a week and it’s still going strong.
Has a good speed variation on it, it’s not too loud either but it is quite heavy.
My immediate reaction would be to not worry about it.
Some of the advisories I’ve seen over the years on my cars have been pathetic. Others looked like the titanic but never had a mention of rust.
If the rest of the car is nice, it’s got good history etc, get in front of it and look at it...
I’ll lock the thread if it gets in to a slanging match.
We’ve only heard one side of the story so it’s only fair the garage (if they choose to) share their side.
Yes.
If the customer has said “I’ll buy the car if you paint the front end and do the cambelt” and then cancels after the work has been carried out then the dealer should absolutely be keeping the deposit as they are considerably out of pocket.
But this guy has made a telephone call and a...
Loss of revenue would need to be proved in a court with time stamped recorded telephone calls/emails that clearly show another customer trying to buy the car and then the garage declining because you have reserved it.
The fact it’s still advertised and not ‘reserved’ or ‘sold’ tells a very...
There won’t be a falling out. They can’t keep his deposit, so they either give it back to him or get taken to court. It really is that simple.
He may have a salesman there and no nothing about this himself, so we’ll wait to see if the OP and the garage come to a conclusion on Monday. 🤞
Unless you have specific signed a distance selling exclusion form from the dealer, they cannot keep your deposit.
You need to speak to your bank/card issuer and they will do a charge back.
If you come up on the Saturday, you’ll be in bed by 9pm latest. It’s a f**king long way, and it will be hot, and you’ll be drunk.
Stay Friday night, get a bit of Kip, rip roaring for Saturday day and night then. 💪🏻
@Breamy - can you remember how much you paid for the AR1’s back then??
I’ve just bought some and they seem really cheap compared to my other options. I assumed tyres had gone up like everything else and my usual MRF’s have gone up about £35 a tyre! But I just found 2 brand new AR1’s on eBay...
Speaking as an owner of a V8 Merc from that era with Air Suspension, you will need that cost again to maintain it over the course of a year or two. They are frighteningly expensive to maintain.
I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m sure they were cheaper to run for the first few years than the...
We just saw one in the supermarket car park and I said to my son “I was looking for one of them before I got the X5. Would make an awesome tow car. 6 proper seats too, would be really comfy for driving to Spain next year”
Dad, you buy one of those and don’t EVER pick me up from football in it...
