    What is this?

Mine developed a pinhole leak. Held pressure when not being used, but sprayed like feck when you turned the wheel.

    What is this?

Can confirm dead easy to change. Oil will come out, as in a dribble, but get the replacement ready and just put your thumb over the end when the old one is removed and clean up the drips with a rag afterwards. It's not like changing the spray gun whilst the hosepipe is on.

    Jim's Black Ph2 172 (Just like everyone else's!)

One thing I did decide on, was that despite having some NASA spec heat proof sleeve for the aeroquip hose, I left it off as I could only see it being an absolute massive pain in the dick to slide on, and I hoped the cooler would reduce temps enough. Only time will tell!

    Jim's Black Ph2 172 (Just like everyone else's!)

I shouldn't love this colour as much as I do, but its almost a shame to hide them away! I made sure this was properly seated after taking the pic. Lowered the car off the stands and trolley jack and was a bit surprised at how high it sat. Then I removed the handbrake and rolled it...

    Jim's Black Ph2 172 (Just like everyone else's!)

Re-assembled and not looking like a scrapper for the first time in weeks! A few days after that I decided to make a start fitting the new springs. Due to the way my brain works, my thought process goes: 'Should I start fitting the new springs?' -> 'Can I finish it today?' -> 'If no, don't...

    Clio 182 Turbo

That's pretty disappointing! Unless I've misunderstood. I suppose if you've bought it as a completed car you can be a bit more objective than those who have built their existing car. I'm probably doing the right thing leaving my engine standard, as tempting as it is. Apologies for the thread hijack!

    E86 Z4 3.0 Si

Wanted one of these for the longest time, then had a passenger ride in one and something in the seats digs into my thighs and was super uncomfortable. Was gutted.

Found a bolt in the engine bay. Let’s play “where does it go?”

A flip front would be great! Although it would never be fitted on mine  I know the bolt wasn't there at the last oil filter change so it can't be from a prior clutch change. Unless I missed it last time and it was there. I remember I'm 99% sure I did the filter from underneath last time...

Checking pics vids on my phone they all look to be in situ.

Found a bolt in the engine bay. Let’s play “where does it go?”

I'm just wondering if it was a little Brucey bonus from when I had the belts done. I'm also thinking its a possibility that during the belts being done, this bolt has been dropped, and the mechanic presumed it had come out the bottom of the car, and a new replacement bolt was used...

Jesus this is going to be a dick of a job isn’t it! Two steps forward one step back I suppose

Found a bolt in the engine bay. Let’s play “where does it go?”

Is there? Am I presuming it’s bolt no.11 but it’s actually bolt something else?

Found a bolt in the engine bay. Let’s play “where does it go?”

Okay so came back home, straight out here, tried the bolt and………….. There’s already one there. Under the electrical plug. Any hints? I’m leaning towards it being for the AC bracket again now.

Found a bolt in the engine bay. Let’s play “where does it go?”

Yep I changed it a few weeks ago but was sure I'd done everything up. Going to take the slam panel off tonight and have a proper nosey around with a torch. So despite it being a flanged head, we think its no.11 in the below?

Found a bolt in the engine bay. Let’s play “where does it go?”

Okay so general consensus is that it’s either the AC or more likely the bracket to the block. And that it’s free weight saving. Can also confirm that the fuel rail guard is studs and nuts, and that the AC pump and alternator are rock solid

Found a bolt in the engine bay. Let’s play “where does it go?”

As in “put it in the glovebox til something sounds loose”? Yep still got AC. Only thing that’s different since last time I changed the oil filter was the belts were done. Might it have escaped during that?

Found a bolt in the engine bay. Let’s play “where does it go?”

Wait I’ve misunderstood. It IS the circled bolt and it goes behind the alternator? So I’ve got to take it out again?…

Found a bolt in the engine bay. Let’s play “where does it go?”

Yeah it is thicker with less thread and no smaller diameter locating end. Forgive me, but I can’t find no.2 on the diagram… it’s been a long day lol.

Good thinking. Although that’s not been touched for years. Will check in the daylight tomorrow.

Found a bolt in the engine bay. Let’s play “where does it go?”

Hi all. Changing the oil on the 172 today and as I got the oil filter off, there was a long, flanged-hexhead bolt jammed behind. Now have I been a dumb s**t when changing the alternator a few weeks ago and it’s slipped out during the wrestling-into-place? I’ve not driven the car since but...

Accepting one-off customer payment by Credit Card...?

Just another person coming on here to warn others about fraud. My place got stung for £75,000 last year. Was a very clever system used and started off with legitimate sales etc to build up a rapport and trading history over a few months before the shenanigans started. With the OP stating its...

    Jim's Black Ph2 172 (Just like everyone else's!)

Update 8/2 1) Solve exhaust vibration at high revs. 2) Change oil & filter, plugs, leads, fit new cabin filter. 3) Sort out hose routing for power steering cooler, install, mount cooler core & swap fluid for high temp stuff. 4) Figure out if the rad fans are actually functioning. Its never...

Was that by hand or with a machine? I've tried by hand with sandpaper, the Turtle Wax restoration kit and also using a drill with a flexipad and sanding discs.

    Jim's Black Ph2 172 (Just like everyone else's!)

As mentioned previously, I've tried a few times to polish my headlights with no joy. There's this cloudiness that you can feel from the outside. Is it inside the lens or do I just need to polish more? The lenses are pretty smooth...
