Waste of money IMHO
A track day costs me 12 pounds...there are always experienced drivers who are moer than willing to show you round the track, and many of those guys are racing drivers, so they really know their stuff.
with regard to trackday insurance...whats the point? its VERY expensive...
Im currently driving a mk1 172 which is just awesome (pity about Renault though)
but I might be ableto get hold of a mint Polo 2.0 16v turbo for half the price of the Clio.
The Polo is black, in mint condition, at 0.5bar puts out 227hp and at 1.1bar puts out 335hp (both figures @ wheels)...
mk1 - I think as low as 6.8
mk2 - I think 6.9
cup - 6.7 or even as low as 6.6
Dont quote me though as Ive just tried to remember what Ive read on the forum.
Ive personally gotten 7.9 when the tested average by car mags here was 8.4. (4900ft above sealevel)
mk1 172 = "yeehaa!", "Im going to wet my pants!" "Holy cr*p!!" <- actual quotes of people who have driven my std (decat zorst) mk1 172

Ive got a mate with a 3.0l tuned VR6 putting out 185hp on the wheels and on the track I slaughter him. In a straight...

Ill be the first to admit that I know nothing about engines and even less about VVT but I would have thought youd gain more power by keeping the timing advanced by 16...
erm...I think anything more than 300 would be really horrible for everyday driving
I have a friend who has a 299 cam in his Polo and it just doesnt idle
Decat is probably the most cost effective way to improve performance...Cost me a whopping 15 pounds to get mine done and the difference between my 172 and others on the track is quite large
Im on my second Clio now and have had no real issues with quality. Sure the interior plastics could be of a better quality, and there is the odd rattle, some people have had exhaust rattles, leaky cars, I still think overall the cars are built and most seem to be pretty bullet proof as far the...
Well, the car is currently running on 93 unleaded (which is all we get here apart from the leaded racing fuel)
Ive removed the cat because it frees up a little power just by itself and because the lead screws up the cat, and the plugs need to be changed because the lead screws up the platinum...
