I'd say so. I had a VTS & GTI, they were very under rated. Brakes aside, they are superb. The GTi i had was a freak, it ran 135bhp standard, the JP4 engines are very tuneable in their n/a form with little fuckery.

Rear shocks will be leaking oil, have a look underneath, if they're wet looking, they will need replaced.

For the age of car you're looking to replace for, it would be easier/less hassle to have it painted.

Have you done it before? The tools come up on here periodically for about £100-£120. For the part price and hassle of acquiring the tools, you're likely to save yourself less than £100/200.

Crack on mate. Even mechanics canny get it right!😂 But for the sake of how much it costs and the sheer hassle of it, i'd personally just get it done at a specialist. If it fails then your cars off the road for a few weeks, at least the works guaranteed at a garage.
