You need 4 buckets and a hole 1 deep 2x2 so four blocks total. Fill it so there is no flow and you can take water from anywhere and it will replenish.

It is limited on the PC but the terrain starts going mental at the edge. It is bigger than you think though. Takes about 15 mins to walk from one end to the other in one direction, so that is a lot of space to use.

It can cause that. If it reaches the level of the crankshaft it can whip the oil up into a foam, which could be what that is. That is a lot too much oil though.
