Yeah that's the thing that annoys me with em. On MW2 they were awesome as a secondary. Or even on a map like Highrise they were quality as a primary and then pulling out the UMP45 when you're gonna need more range.

I've found a lot of the time with shotguns they don't kill with 1 shot which they should IMO. So if somebody is loading into you with an AR/SMG they stand a better chance of killing you if you have to shoot more than once with a shotgun. (If the opponent is decent anyway).

Yeah gets my vote for best SMG definitely. Close call with that and the AUG for best gun overall IMO. I'm gonna have another play with the Galil later too. I always find changing up guns every now and again helps my game out, kinda keeps things fresh if that makes any sense lol.
