Everyday tasks such as? I updated all my library books over GPRS last night and it took no more than a few mins whilst i was lying in bed. Saved me from powering up the laptop.
Honestly i think the phone is great. If i didn't i would have sent it back for an N97 or Omnia HD that i was...
Hmmm, the flicker's gone now, back to how it was before i moved house!
Only things i'd done were remove and replace the VGA cable (which i'd tried before with no luck) and restored the colours to the default settings (which i hadn't manually changed).
Strange, but happy!
Thing is it doesn't flicker when i've got the xbox hooked up over HDMI, or when i use the built in digital TV tuner.
It's quite hard to explain the flickering over the net but when viewing sites like CS (white) i dont see anything. But if i go to a dark site like iplayer it shows up a lot more...
Whenever i change the res it comes up on screen saying for optimal results select 1920x1080.
The screen looks awful on 1680x1050, even more flicker and it shakes too!
Where would i change to 16:10?
I've just found an option that will allow me to input custom resolutions and refresh rates...
That does surprise me tbh, u sure every curve isn't a bit of an exaggeration? I travelled from birmingham to london the other day using google maps with no problems. The standard browser is slow but I'm on opera mini at the mo and its fine. Not lightening quick but it rarely poses a problem...
Guys just posted in another thread but i'd recommend checking out the Bolt and Opera Mini browsers mentioned earlier in the thread if you haven't already.
I agree with Symon that they don't work quite as smoothly as the original BB browser but i've just done a little test and they both seemed a...
Guys just for a reference, i just loaded that national geographic page from the above video over GPRS in 45 seconds using the Opera Mini Browser. Will try again when i get an EDGE connection but i'm in uni accomodation and struggle to get it in my room.
The standard blackberry browser took...
The initial turn on or when you reboot it takes a while and you'll have that white screen with the little clock icon in the middle but you shouldn't get that once it's all set up.
Mine turns on in a few seconds now. Check out the auto on/off feature too...
I didn't get chance to try the N97 but the curve is a seriously sweet phone. Everything works great on it and the connectivity you get with the push email etc is great. I defo feel i made the right choice, even when comparing to iphone (i already have an ipod touch).
I heard bad things about...
I'm using weather eye at the moment, you can see it in the top left corner of the first pic i posted. It's doesn't use GPS though so doesn't update depending on location.
Is weather bug free?
That theme has a hidden today screen option too. It only shows up when you hover over the calendar...
Yeah i posted the link on the page before. It's only for the curve but it's a seriously sweet theme.
I think it's worth getting the weather app as it shows up nicely on the homescreen. New icons too. Firefox isn't an actual app so don't get excited! The guy who made it just used the logo for...
Cheers.
Captureit is quite useful, let's you take screenshots of the screen.
So where can i get .247? I've seen .250 on crackberry but a few people have reported problems with it.
Have you tried the OS 5.0 leak then?
I mean like the wifi they have in starbucks/mcdonalds etc. As far as i know you can access certain points like that for free as part of the iphone deal. was wondering if it was the same for blackberry/orange services?
This is a nice piece of kit. To be honest i think the iphones are great but would have cost me an extra £20 p/m + £185 for the phone for a worse contract!
Still getting used to it but its cool.
So with the wifi, does the curve just automatically connect to the nearest available hot spot? Which...
Guys what networks are you all on?
I'm wondering if orange have raped my app world as i can't seem to find google maps or opera mini on there. Cant find the bolt browser either!
Cool. How good is the GPS on the curve?
Can it be as good as a tom tom unit or does it rely on the EDGE network? Is googlemaps the best app for sat nav capabilities?
Tried installing the drivers for my LG M227WD, the latest Vista updates and the latest drivers for the Nvidia Geforce Go 7300 on the laptop but the flicker remains.
I read somewhere that i need to change the refresh rate to 75hz or above but the only option i have is 60hz, whether i go through...
Got my 8900 Curve coming this week, after some toys for it!
I'm after google maps, facebook and a twitter app fo' sho', but any other cool apps or themes?
crackberry.com seems quite good for apps. I tried to download blackberry's appworld for my laptop but it didn't work. Is app world like the...
Ah sod it, went with the curve. TBH i'll only be using it occasionally for things like facebook and twitter so cant see it being a problem. They wanted £100 for the Bold. This was free with a bluetooth headset and 4gb sd card for £20 per month.
I dont know if the sales guy was just spinning me...
So on paper it definitely looks shite but in terms of real world performance does it make a lot of difference?
I also looked at the omnia HD but they want £115 for it, which i'm not mad on paying being a student.
Just about to upgrade and am torn between the Bold and the Curve. The camera's no big deal so the only difference really are the looks and the net.
I prefer the look of the curve, but the lack of 3G is putting me off and seems a bit antiquated. Has anybody had these side by side and compared...
which data plan? They offered me 80mb which will likely do me as I'd only really use for emails and the occasional web browse.
I don't think it's an iPhone beater by a long stretch but it does look decent. The only thing that puts me off is the OS. I tried the 5800 and it was nowhere near as...
Tried one in-store, not a fan tbh. I have the ipod touch which is a breeze to type on and a LOT more responsive, so the Nokia felt poor to me in comparison.
Orange offered me a great contract on the 5800 so if i cant barter them down on a blackberry or the samsung i may just go with it. It's...
The nokia music phone is s**t for text input etc, and the worrying thing is the i8910 has similar software, but then the screen is a lot bigger.
Think i'm going with the blackberry curve or the i8910 though.
