Yeah you could do as above. But as you said it may blow up. I recommend changing at 5750rpm. If you want your engine to blow up though, douse it in petrol yourself then light it...gives a bigger bang that way.

I think for the 16v (which I have is about 6k). After 5.5k the power curve falls with an ever increasing gradient, yet a change at 5.5 will mean the next gear is going to come in at about 4 which will be too low for optimum. I would say 6k but not sure exactly for the 8v Sam

The paint condition is bad to awful. Despite a wash and SRP 10 days ago (didn't have any protection) there are still many swirls. It seems as if a far few panels have been resprayed as well and filler has been used. Should I be careful with the use of paint restorer as it may damage it...
