I have fitted a Helix cover on friday and I cannot move the arm at all by hand , so the Valeo cover must have been faulty , just need to refit the engine and box and give it a try now.
I'm not doing another rally for 6 weeks now so am hoping to have a new engine sorted out by then
Its very easy to drop the complete subframe with engine and box ect on my ramp , I can have it all on the floor in 45 mins , and I wanted to get a better look at the thrust bearing in place to make sure it wasn't dragging .
I ordered a Helix cover for it today as I don't think the valeo cover...
I stripped it all apart today and can't see anything wrong with it , there seems plenty of clamping force on it , tried speaking to someone at helix but they took my number but no one called me back , will have a call round tomorrow with those in the know.
Measured the room I have for the...
Had an up and down day yesterday , about a mile into the first stage the new clutch started slipping , we lost quite a bit of time , I was hoping it was just bedding in , it was better after it had cooled down and went out on the second stage , and did seem better the further we went , but even...
whipped the engine and box out and bought a new flywheel and clutch plate , and had the plate re-paddled
All back on the subframe , fitted a new water pump and track rods while it was apart
Its all back up and running now , taking it for the tracking to be done in the morning , a good...
ouch , oh I bet that made you chuckle when you found that out !
I have a CNC milling machine in my workshop so will machine the extra tooth off , I remember many moons ago putting a rally car back together and then finding the thrust bearing lol , there was plenty of swearing going on after that !
Yes it tops out in 6th at about 120 , and yes we have an intercom built into the helmets , I am trying to get a lead so the intercom can be connected to the camera
Took it all apart earlier and the cover and flywheel is worn , and the plate has worn to match , so I have ordered a new flywheel from renault , a valeo cover from the motor factors and sent my plate to brake reline services in cardiff to have new pads fitted , should have everything back...
I had the clutch plate repaddled when I had the box out to have the final drive changed when I built the car , I think the plates ok as I haven't done that much mileage , I think the cover has gone weak.
Yes it could have done with more power , ok down hill lol
With what you have done in yours...
Uploaded another in car video last night , this was probably the fastest stage of the weekend , was on the rev limiter for quite some time , which certainly grabs your attention lol , this is much better than going round and round in circles on a track :rasp:

Just come back from a bonkers time in Ireland doing the West Cork rally , what an amazing event , car came back in one piece as well with no dents which is always a bonus lol , just needs a new clutch as its just started to slip very slightly off the line , so whipped the engine a box out this...
Had issues on the last rally where the lower ball joint nut kept coming loose , found out it was the rose joints had seized , spoke to various places about new ones , as the original ones need greasing , I have changed them to PTFE lined ones and see how they last
Off to Ireland in a week for...
Future proof ?? wassat ?
If the heads are no different , and they can't be ported any better , its a bit of a waste of time the extra work involved fitting it really.
Can anyone answer this which I asked further up the thread ?
was just looking on catcams website , on the 551 , 552 and 553...
