Every 4-5k miles will keep it tip top. Use Mobil 1 15W50 or similar. Paul

Thats a good point Matt. I beleive the later 16v sumps were the same size as the Williams? What their capacity I dont know - but a litre or so more is a hefty increase. Ive changed the oil in the Williams several times and not put more than 5 litres in. Paul

I have done millions of changes on the 16v engines and only ever put in about 4-4.5 litres. The rated capacity is 4.7 litres I think, but you never get it all out anyway. Sounds alot thats all. Paul

6.2 litres? Thats way too much. I suggest you check it as u may have overfilled it.

Leigh - would be a good idea to suggest why you feel its such a bad engine. I am intrigued to know.
