I ran some 195/55/15's for a month or some on some turbines. On hard cornering and big bumps i got a little rubbing but the turbine offsets didn't help. Now on 195/50/15. No rubbing and the ride is no different, although I did go from budgets to PS3's so not really a fair comparison for ride...
If all it needs is a replacement radiator then def do it yourself, its easy from memory. I personally would try and get a used one off here from someone breaking a car near you or doing a turbo / itb conversion that doesn't need the standard item only. Or off eBay.
Plus make sure you use...
If you read the instructions they are all normal and expected except the shift light. But that will not be anything serious I'm sure. If you read the instructions it will tell you how to clear them. Although as stated you can't clear the airbag ones without he correct module / patch from fast...
Doesn't sound like a dephaser i don't think. More often than not they just give you a nasty rattle.
Do you know when the belts were done and if the mechanic used the correct timing tools. The belts are pretty easy to do with the correct tools but without them it can lead to the timing being...
PS3's are brilliant. Fantastic all rounder on the road and I think they are reasonably good value and appear to have good life. They are fantastic in the wet as well, which in the UK is important.
Ran Bridgestone potenzas, they were good in the dry but had slightly sharper break away on the...
Thinking back I think I found a small pipe which I cut to length to replace the sleeve that is in the standard top mount, but as wit the rubber parts is to smaller ID. Sorry I can't remember the koni piston rod, but you should able to measure and then drill / buy a sleeve accordingly.
I don't have a pic. You are supposed to have new top mounts with them that have a larger ID. I didn't so very carefully drilled out the existing ones to fit. 20k of hard miles and a rally later and had no issues.
Okay thanks. We did pretty well and came 3rd. But my navigator knew what she was doing. I just drove at the required speed and tried not to crash. Which was mostly successful!!!!
My handbrake is s**t tho so that and a sump guard are on the to do list now.
I love this. Did my first 12 car the other day and it was brilliant. Just out of interest how have you mounted your seat? Straight to floor rails or to a subframe and how have you mounted your lap strap on the handbrake side. I have a harness coming next week but not 100% where to mount that point?
eBay is always a bit of a gamble with this sort or thing. If I was closer I could have done the same a Phil. I was lucky tho and got a never been used, second hand one off eBay, took a punt on it and got it for 60 quid.
It looks great but You wouldn't even be pushing an Evouque up or down there. If your locking wheels up down hill that's pretty dangerous as you have no control.
I would get yourself over to the land rover experience at Eastnor Castle ( others are available but Eastnor is best) and get them to...
I am sure it will be this. Often is and was the fault with mine. Regardless of ow they look the starter relay can become "sticky". I used ot have to take mine out and tap it against something then it would fire first time. The relay looked brand new on the outside.
little bit harsh!
Tbf it was cheaper than the standard car when new. And weren't they a homologation? Or did I make that up?
Personally I do not like the look of the standard 172 so it had to be a cup for me. If I was buying now I think I would still buy a cup, they are my favourite...
Yep, :p But if it doesn't have AC, you can't get confused with if it is climate or not. The only climate you can have is the window down and the outside climate!!!!
It doesn't go into a lot of detail, but it is the book I always have with me at work etc. as its very easy to skim through and find what you need. Some of the hand drawn drawings in it are quite amusing as well!
I have 4 uniroyals and they are s**t. I will never buy them again. However to be fair they have lasted pretty well, I have done about 8K on them and the front prob still have another 2 - 3 k in them. Side walls are very soft on them as well.
For the people who struggle with the way suspension works etc. I would advise purchasing the following:
Car Suspension at Work, Theory & practice of Steering, Handling and Road Holding by Jeffery Daniels.
It is a good starting point and generally it is pretty easy to understand. The odd bit...
That's really not a great summary on that link ( from what i can see on my phone anyway) It is something that is worth reading up about of you want understand it.
You have to consider how bump steer affect the car as you roll through a corner etc as well as just "hitting" a bump.
i would never have done it to mine if my PAS system had been working well, but it wasn't. I needed, at the very least, new rack and new pump, so then may as well do hoses. All in I couldn't afford all new stuff. However I did the ePas conversion, including and brand new rack for £120 ish. It...
How have you gone about lowering the car? Do you still have the origional spring aids (bump stops) fitted?
Also as for removing the ARB it's really not a good idea, particularly the front one, however I am not sure how much difference it will make on a car that is so low, I can't imagine the...
