Well to be fair the standard 172 steering definitely cant be described as "lightening fast"! Lowered it is a different story, but I guess their talking about standard.

Rob - on what? 172 or Willy?
Craggy - some of us dont have the magic touch when it comes to launching. I like the idea of traction control....just need to find a suitabley low priced system (eg: NOT racelogic!)
I find it easier to gety a decent launch in the the willy than in the 172. The spread of torque in the willy is more useful and allows for quicker lower rev starts. The 172 never seemed that keen below 4500 revs and a bit too keen above leading to dead tyres and bad launches for me...
I was given an RAC breakdown cover card with my imported 172 and told by the useless sh*teheads at Bentleys of Sheffield that it had breakdown cover. It didnt. Kept the spare in the car since then, though!
Also try this link. £20 and can pick up signals from three sensors (but just 1 included!)

Word of warning - if you are going to do this, make sure your breakdown coverage is valid. Mine wasnt and it cost me £300 to join, get resuced and have the tyre replaced. There was also a surcharge for not having a spare wheel. I had 2 cans of foam with me, but not much use when the whole...
Cool...might even manage to do it tonight. Might fork out for an AP22 next month :devilish:
Could really do with an engine bay temp. sensor as well as one for the air intake. Hmm....
Craggy mentioned something to me about these £10 digital thermometers from Halfords, and that people had managed to set them up as air intake temperature gauges by running the cable through to the engine bay.
The effect of air temp. on performance is of interest to me, so Im going to have a go...
Ive got a new catalytic converter on the Willy now and Ive come to a conclusion. Its definitely quicker without one (particularly over 4500rpm). The engine doesnt feel strangled or anything with the cat on, it just feels a lot more free at high revs.
I would recommend a silenced de-cat though...
