Oh no, im sorry to hear your misfortune. Youre not the only one. I posted on here a while back; some dildo drove into the front of my car denting the lovely front bumper and pushing the light in, i came back to my car to see a big dirty mark on the front and i thought someone had thrown a mud...
I find the grip in my 172 is very good too, but the back end can come out quite easily if you want it to lots of power and lots of torque in a small car = fun. Also, when you have passengers, it wont make as much a difference to the performance as it would in your saxo, so thats the advantage...
Yeah, they r right about the shift light it was discontinued. Mine doesnt have the light either, its a 2001 March model, last of the mk.1s. I dont konw of a way to turn it on. If you look at the dash board the light is over to the left hand side at the top of the arrangement of dash lights to...

Yep - i also had this same problem(?) it was before i replaced my brake pads also. When i would enter slip roads going onto dual carriageways at great velocity, often long sweeping bends when flat out both the hand brake light would come on and the stop light! scarey stuff! get the brake pads...

In my opinion the gear box in the 172 (well mine anyway) is awful! if you slot the shifter from 4th to 3rd and vice versa, when it travels to third its not straight i.e. it moves slightly to the right, so when i quickly move it from third to fourth that diagonal direction sometimes moves it into...

Hey there. Im not sure about the RT, but i can ask this guy whether the circuitary is similar and whether it would be relevant for your model. It doesnt hurt to try tho does it!? ( i think!)
My engine note changes and pulls harder and visibly looks faster when it reaches 5500 rpm. It now revs to 7600 rpm and every preceding gear is slotted into the exciting zone, each gear starts at a higher rpm due to higher speed. I can now do 125+ in 4th and something like 100 in 3rd, which is nice.
Cool. Ive got a green induction kit ready to fit on mine, but havent fit it yet due to warranty etc. My friend put a normal pipercross on his VTS and it seemed to slow him down. Especially when it came to off the lights toasting, probably due to larger engine bay heat like you said. He didnt...
Yep, i did exactly the same thing, twice! first of all, racing a Fiat coupe 20V turbo. I went to put it into 4th at around 85-90 and it went into second! the engine screamed for mercy as the rev needle shot instantly to somewhere above 8000 rpm, but i was quick on the clutch and it wasnt there...

Oh sorry i didnt realise, my mistake. Weve had a load of people in here slating 172s and the poor car gets a lot of abuse from loads of other forums so im kinda up tight about that. Sorry. Ive never done an outburst like that before, but it wont happen again. I dont know what came over me...

Who cares? the clio is faster, end of story. More torque, bigger engine, more bhp - great. Toast you any day. My friend has a VTS which is supposed to have different gearing or better acceleration or something. He gets TOASTED every weekend and he gets very pissed off. Face it, 1.6 vs 2.0 both...
The clio cup this guy was working on is the mk.1 with the mk.2 body panels stuck on. Dont know why, but it does have the mk.1 air box and so did the ones i saw at Thruxton...maybe because of FBW throttle. Ill ask the guy.
Hey there. From new as in after the running in period the rev limiter has been at 7200, but i had noticed recently that it got lower (after i did that weird test with turning the ignition and holding down the windscreen wiper menu button and the dials went crazy thing) as in 6800 rpm. Maybe i...

I can ask my new contact and he can get them for £500. They are something like £700 for a non-renaultsport registered race blokey. Ill ask him whether they would work on the fbw throttle, i dont see why not really. All i think ill need is the engine number.
i know how you feel racing pulsars. My friend has a pulsar with a full exhaust (hks down pipe which says on it "for competition use only") and cone filter. Before he had these mods i raced him (i was 3 up he was 2 up) and i was pulling past him at around !20 mph up hill. Since hes had these...
