no doubt your old harddrive is ide. better off getting either a big sata or a couple of small ones. you would be better getting a 10-15 pound caddie for it and using it as an back-up external. whats your budget for a new comp? what will it be used for?

Mate wrong time to upgrade, all the new dx10 stuff will start shipping show, which will hopefully drop some price's of this gen stuff. cheapest route is Athlon X2 AM2, best at the moment intel's conroe graphics card, best single dx9 card 7950gx2, or you could go for a cheap 7900gto...

It can overwrite files within those folders though, (sometimes your lucky and it doesn't delete anything) but lost loads of files in the past. does it not put the old windows into a backup on the c:\, plus any other file could be overwriten, depending where it writes the data.

very strange, you should maybe try reseting the router, or go in to advanced features, username admin password admin.

If you reinstall windows over the top of the old windows, you will lose any data in my doc's or other folders linked to windows. Just try and use the repair console, if that doesn't work you could make a partition on the drive and install windows on to that.

Darthcake do you have a dvd recorder or (video lol)? because you can copy everything off your sky + box on to them and play back on your dvd player or computer. there is also away to record straight to your computer, never tried it though,have a look at the avforums.

Can anyone recommend any discs? Don’t want to spend that much Standard or grooved? How do you order on the web? Do they come in one packs or do companys sell sets lol Never ordered discs before!!!
