    Lovely spec 275

I do wonder if these last of the line cars with the Ohlins will end up with a bit of a Clio Trophy thing going on. They are the end of an era in a lot of ways and for feedback and fun were rated more highly than the latest and greatest hot hatches.

    Lovely spec 275

I’m not sure TBH, still working through a bunch of options. Whatever I get needs to handle a once or twice a week commute of an hour and a half each way on motorways and dual carriageways. Wouldn’t really fancy that in a standard cup chassis car, it’s just too jiggly.

    Lovely spec 275

It really is. It’s an insane spec too, I did wonder when I saw the “Renault plus one owner” and I’m almost certain it was their kitchen-sink spec press car as seen in various reviews.

    Lovely spec 275

Mmmmmmmmm....... It’s all the money for one of these but it’s got the lot and some good names in terms of tuning and maintenance too. Anyone driven one of these with the Ohlins? Wondering if it makes it a bit more civilised in terms of ride quality than the standard cup suspension...

    My New Volvo 850 T5

I'm honestly not sure, but it's shoes inside a drum and are known for having problems as they age. I know when the problem hit I thought it was probably something more expensive like the shoe had come off the backing plate and bolloxed the internals of the drum (not speaking from experience...

Whats with people 'Losing' Service history

They're old cars now so sub-100k is very low mileage, I'd have to share the suspicion that the history has gone missing for a reason. That said, I think it just depends, do you like cars or are they "just a thing". My wife's parents never get the book stamped or keep invoices for any work, it...

    My New Volvo 850 T5

Thought I'd pop a quick update on, although obviously with lockdown the Volvo has mostly been sat on the driveway. We did move house recently and again the practicality of the thing was just awesome, as was it's ability to make long journeys a breeze. I can spend hours behind the wheel and get...

    Purple seats anyone?!

Might have been. Might not have been paying attention properly and just saw a tank and some hoses and s**t. Possibly. That's all I'm saying.

    Purple seats anyone?!

More interested in the NOS bits, I wonder if they had them fitted to it......

    Punto GT

Owned a 1.2 SX 75 back in the day. Good cars, s**t dealers..... #Fiat ;) Amazed to see a GT in decent shape, finding a mk1 Punto at all is an achievement these days.

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Love an intellimouse, they were great. These days I use a Logitech MX which I really rate as I have large hands, but used the intellimouse for years.

    My New Volvo 850 T5

The lambda light has gone off! I love a self-fixing car. Maybe it just wasn't being used enough and got a bit pissy (technical term). Of course, I now have a wheel bearing going bad, because I've been using it. Cars, eh? :ROFLMAO:

    My New Volvo 850 T5

I may have got carried away hunting for rogue battery draining components. I found a wire which was clearly part of an old mobile phone install and decided to chase it back to the source. Yeah...... Anyway, it was the (unpowered) lead to the antenna. Balls. Still, it all went back together...

Much appreciated @Darren S but I’ll have to pass for now. We’ve just moved house and my savings account is taking an absolute kicking as it is! @SharkyUK fill yer boots.....

Got to admit, I’m very tempted. They do seem to be about the best reviewed option out there, same problem with any chair though is that it’s such a personal preference thing. Wish I could stretch to a Herman Miller Aeron....

    New Wireless Router Help

Sorry, no first hand experience of that sort of kit. I've used other TP Link bits over the years and found them to be fine. The only thing I'm wary of is that it might not be the router you're currently using which is the problem, can you stream video in the workshop for example? Just wondering...

    New Wireless Router Help

If a WiFi range extender won’t work you’d probably be best off with a wireless access point to plug into your Ethernet. Something like this.... TP-LINK TL-WA901ND 450 Mbps Wireless N Access Point https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B013HCO332/?tag=cliospnet01-21

    New Wireless Router Help

I'd be really surprised if even a five year old router can't cope with a bit of Skype, but personally unless you have some other reason for having a router or the workshop is a loooong way away from the main router I'd just get a wifi extender...

Adeys Twingo GT, grab a bargain

Sounds like if they do you'd follow through on the auction, fair play if so. I was mightily tempted, but need to get the house move out of the way before doing anything car-y

    My New Volvo 850 T5

Today I took eight internal house doors to the tip along with assorted other bags of waste. Yay for Volvo estates! Then I decided to chase down the battery drain, got my meter attached to the battery and pulled each fuse one by one. No change. This is actually a good thing, because that tells...

    My New Volvo 850 T5

I can quite happily live with the mpgeees at about 8k miles a year which is what I’m doing at the moment. It stops being viable at high mileages though. I think I’m going to have to get a window sticker for it that reads “I’m turning into a proper slut”. Love it.

Decision made - This car is also going to be moving on. I’ve got my name down on the waiting list for a car from evezy so once that arrives I’ll sell the 850. No regrets, I love it, it’s been a brilliant trip down memory lane but I’ve done what I wanted to do with it now, I’ve only got space for...

    My New Volvo 850 T5

Picked the car up, had a nice chat with the guys at the garage, they were going on about how nice it was to see one again and how clean it was underneath etc etc. Plus the handbrake is working, which is also good.

Just got a call from the garage, handbrake cables are buggered. One has seized completely and the other one is not far behind. Could have been worse, at least that's all sorted.

    My New Volvo 850 T5

The handbrake has gone all w**k, so it’s going in on Monday to get that sorted. Hopefully something simple, the adjusters are notorious on these. Need to get it cleaned too. In fact, I might go up to the hand job.... errr.... wash place now.
